Nice helmet, March 27, 2009
By Aceman1978 from Central, Nebraska

Pros: Nice gloss finish- flexibility- nice airflow though a full face helmet- Unbeatable price!!! Nice helmet for the Money
Cons: None, so far....

"This is a great helmet for the price. I have more expensive helmets that this helmet is equal to. Noce gloss finish, nice, tight fitting (the way it should be),Price is very reasonalbe(it exceeds DOT ratings). I have read the reviews that state the mechanisms for the flip up face guard is hard tp work...no probs here, depress the button ALL the way in!!!!! I bought the helmet in January, still looks and functions great and they also have the availability of different face shields which is a bonus. In other words, its a great deal, snag 'em while you can...what mroe can I say???"

VR-1 Modular helmet, great value, December 4, 2008
By Harley480 from Phoenix , Arizona

Pros: well made, great finish, nice interior
Cons: opening mechanism for front is hard to operate

"I bought this helmet because my 8 year old daughter wanted to ride with me and I needed to get a helmet for her...she was having difficulty with a normal full face helmet and the modular was an alternative which paid off..she loves it. the fit an dfinish are great..only draw back is the release for the front is very stiff and a pain to get it opened....but it'll do...for the money it is a great value..it will protect my little one as I've read the reviews on the VR1 product line and it shows it better than most Snell rated units at more than twice the price...I'm happy with it, and maybe a little WD 40 might help the latch"

Pros: Good looking and well built
Cons: Hot like all full helmets

"A little nosier than I expected but not bad. With all the vents open, still had to crack the shield slightly to keep from fogging up sometimes. Accidently dropped the helmet and amazingly did not chip. Still looks good and very comfortable. Agree with the slightly tricky latch. But a good purchase for the price."

"The helmet is more comfortable than I thought it would be. It's lighter and yet feels quite secure. The vents work well and it appears that I will be able to wear it for a fairly long stretch of time without discomfort."

Still Not a Fan of Full-Face Helmets, April 2, 2008

Pros: Decent helmet after fixing minor flaws.
Cons: Plastic materials, hot, and noisy.

"This is my first full-face helmet and I was surprised by both how hot and how noisy it is. I don't know if this is routine for full-face helmets or a issue with this particular helmet. Regardless, with the vents open and visor opened slightly, my head was sweating (wet hair) after riding only an hour during a sunny 60 degree day. This was with the silver metallic finish, not the heat absorbing darker colors. At the same time, the noise from the wind was thunderous, with or without the vents or visor opened. The fiberglass materials in my previous helmets tended to be a lot quieter. Finally, the overall fit is uncomfortably tight and the full-face design slightly claustrophobic.

Regarding this particular helmet, wind causes the vent on the chin bar to rattle in either the open or closed position. This might be solved by taping or glueing the vent in the desired position. The latch for the chin bar is unpredictable, opening easily on some occasions and less easily on others. The rubber along the bottom of the helmet was not glued firmly, causing a section to come loose with simple handling. The application of a stonger glue resolved this. Finally, some of the helmet lining is not finished (sewn), simply tucked under other parts of the lining. However, I saw nothing to suggest the material easily unravels, so perhaps not a big issue.

On a more positive note, the helmet overall is nicely made. The paint job is consistent and free of flaws. Once unlatched, the chin bar opens smoothly and stays in the upright position until returned. The visor opens separately from the chin bar and stays firmly in any position. Finally, the helmet does not contain any external logos or decals. In other words, nothing causing me to be an advertising billboard for the manufacturer (a pet peeve of mine).

By the way, if this matters to anyone (the review page said to include make, model, etc), I'm riding a 2008 Peugeot Satelis 125 4V Executive (silver) with stereo, GPS navigation, travel trunk, and more. This scooter is ideal (quick/75mph and agile) for getting around the crowded streets of Europe. I use it mostly to transport photo equipment around in the hunt for unusual sights to photograph.

"This is my second time that shop at JCwhitney. I find that the company has a lots of good products. Personally! I only shop for motorcycle products. Recently I had order the helmet and bag for my motorcycle. The helmet looks very good and it's feel very good when you put it on. This is my first time that have a full face helmet. The push button was very helpful when you have a quick stop for drink or a breath of air. In the scale of 1-10, I would rate it as number 8. Thanks!."

"I tried out the 3-way modular helmet, and I was impressed just as much as I was a little disappointed.
The helmet is constructed nicely. I like the one button opening that was easy to use. I also like the field of view that the helmet offered. But I would recommend a tinted shield for it.
What I didn't like is when riding on the freeway the helmet felt like it wanted to come forward. It was also very loud in the ears with the air rushing through. My HJC is a lot quieter. But I do have to admit, this is my first experience with a modular helmet, so I wasn't expecting what I got.
Also, the helmet ran a little larger than I expected. I there was a size between medium and large, that would've been the size for me.

"This modular three way venting helmet works great. It has a good fit. The only thing I don't like is the snap at the end of the chin strap. It makes it hard to put threw the rings, and takes more time to put on and take off the helmet. The ease of entry and exit makes up for this flaw. The nice thing is you don't have to take off the helmet to take a drink, with the one button release. Also I would order a size larger then what your head mesures as they tend to run a bit small."
