Pros: this item was the easiest to install and replaced a plastic part with a crome part Cons: it could have come with installation directions for the novice

"I bought this latch to replace the factory latch which is plastic and had broken on a 99 GMC Sierra (new body style). The first picture indicates an all-steel latch which is exactly what I wanted. When you click to buy, the page scrolls down to a Black Tailgate Handle for 99-2005 GMC. Great, add to cart. Well, if you don't happen to click the item # hyperlink, you won't see another picture which shows that this is a plastic latch, and that the first pic is absolutely wrong. So not happy about that because the Ad is misleading. OK, the part does match the factory part and is half the price from GM. And it does work, so it's still not a bad deal. I've only just installed it, so time will tell how long it lasts. Also, one of the yellow plastic fitting guides for the left cable/rod pull was wrong. It was exactly the same as the right side so someone messed up there. I used the left fitting from the original I was replacing and was able to successfully install it. No instructions for installation came with the guide, but it's not hard to figure out."

"couldn't be easier, eight Torx T-30 bolts to remove the bedliner and cover plate, then 2 10mm nuts to bolt the tailgate handle in place. took all of 5 minutes to complete. Best of all the price (12.99) as opposed to 56.95 for the original part from Ford"
