"Plus I have recommended this to two friends. This windshield is small enough to not look overwehelming on a medium size cruiser. I have had several 750 Honda Spirits. And keeps the wind noise down and the bugs off your jacket. I can't ride without a windshield on my bikes anymore over 40 MPH and this brings back the ability to hear my bike and see without blurring. I look over the top of this windshield , and it still stops 75% of the wind. A+++"

Not really a universal fit, September 29, 2009
By Anonymous from Austin. TX

Pros: Perfect size for a short-range cruizer
Cons: Attachment hardware not very adaptable

"I give this product an overall 3-star rating.

I'd give the shield itself (sans hardware) a 5-star rating for being the perfect size for boulevard cruising and short trips. But I take 2-stars off for the dificulty working with the two-point attachment hardware.

I bought this shield for my 1987 Honda VT700C, which has high-mounted twin "bullet" instrument clusters which interfere with just about any windshield, including this one. In addition, I have modified medium-rise handlebars.

If I mounted the shield forward of the instrument cluster, it was too far away to be effective. And if I mounted the shield in front of the instrument cluster, it was too close, too tall, or raked too much, and made the instrument cluster hard to read. The best placement of this shield (for my bike) is right through the instrument clusters. I had to cut away part of the shield to accomodate the instrument clusters. That's not a fault of the shield however, and just a feature of my particular bike. If you have to cut on this shield, be very careful -- the shield is fairly thin, and easy to crack or break.

The "two-point" attachment hardware is very difficult to work with, unless you are able to place the handlebar clamps so the attachment rods are in a vertical plane. If you have to mount the attachment rods out of the vertical plane, you will have difficulty placing and raking the windshield, because you will have to twist the attachment rods just right to secure the windshield well -- which is very difficult to do. I wound up junking the included hardware and making my own from scraps from other shield hardware. Maier would do well to include or offer an optional three-point mounting system to allow a more flexible mounting configuration.

I would recommend this shield to a friend, but with the admonition that if their bike had any feature out of the ordinary, he (or she) might have to be creative in making it fit well, including modifying the attachment hardware, or making your own.

Great small shield with small price..., March 6, 2009
By GadgetGuru

Pros: Inexpensive, Compact, Quick to install and remove.
Cons: Flops around a bit during initial installation, but not too bad.

"This is actually my second one of these. The first one broke when the bike was blown off its kickstand and onto a guard rail. The bike would have hit the ground had the shield not been there. While it broke, it still supported a 450lb. Honda Nighthawk.

The shield is compact for a small bike, but keeps a lot of wind off you in cold weather. It vibrates a touch over the headlight, but not much. Overall, it's a good value for a bike where spending $300 on a Rifle or other premium brand isn't worth it.

Looks Great, November 7, 2008
By TheModifier from Bedford, OH

Pros: Easily Removable
Cons: Could use some better instructions with diagrams

"Just installed this on my 1984 Honda VT700 Shadow and it looks real nice. Have to wait till next season (getting cold here) to see how it works but I'm sure it will be great."

Pros: Works as intended. NO MORE BUGS and GRIT!
Cons: A tad tricky to adjust but not bad

"Well, I am now sold. Never again without a windshield. My biggest problem was grit coming from dump trucks and yard work vehicles. Now I can feel it on my hands, but not my face.
I love this thing. Small and non-obtrusive, but large enough to get the job done. My biggest concern was how it would effect the control of my bike, but that hasn't been an issue at all.
DEFINITELY would recommend it to my friends!

Pros: Other than being a bit floppy until centered and snugged down, a snap to install.
Cons: The thru windshield metal hex nut fittings are starting to rust after one month.

"I'll remove the thru windshield hex head nuts and paint with de rusto or some such soon.
Cheesy that they send what appears to be bare iron fittings there.
One other slight beef is that the wingnut style rod lenght tightners are not large enough to actually crank down upon, allowing the rods to slip.

Pros: easy to install, keeps wind off upper body, looks good
Cons: could be a little taller to get wind over top of helmet better

"This windshield is worth the money. It installed easily and does the job it is intended for. I recommend it for anyone with a smaller bike who has to do a lot of driving especially in colder weather."

Pros: installation a breeze, price
Cons: have to be very careful not to crack mounting holes

"I have a smaller cruiser, and this windshield looks and works great. I had it on in no time at all, and it is perfect for me. It blocks most of wind, allowing the rider to still get some air. It did not affect handling at all. You do have to be careful not to overtighten mounting bolts thur windshield, it can crack at mounting holes, but overall, I highly recommend this windshield."

Pros: Small size does not overwhelm the appearance of the bike.
Cons: Have to keep a watch on the wing nuts to insure it stays tight.

"I recently bought an 2003 Volucia from a friend. My previous Bike a 1400 Intruder came with a windshield. After a few rides I knew I had to get a windshield but didn't want it to overwhelm the appearance of the bike.
This one is perfect, easy to install, and looks great.
AFter a few miles check the wing nuts now and then to insure they are still tight.
No complaints here.

"If you own an older bike and can not find a "custom fit" windshield, consider getting one of these. I put one on my 1985 Suzuki GS 1150, and am pleased with it over all. It was a little bit awkward to install because my bike has very little area on the handle bars to mount acessories, and the brake fluid resvior on the right handlebar was in the way and had to be loosened up and moved out of the way temporarily. Another minor problem: one of the holes in the windshield had been drilled out -of -round. Fourtunately I had a diamond hone the right shape ( a fine rat-tailed file would have worked). This windshield scratches rather easily, so handle with care. Despite the minor problems, this is a good deal in a windshield. It is smallish, but makes a tremendous difference in the ride you get. Seems to me this windshield will work on almost any bike. Thanks to JC Whitney for the prompt delivery."
