Pros: Perfect size for a short-range cruizer
Cons: Attachment hardware not very adaptable
"I give this product an overall 3-star rating.
I'd give the shield itself (sans hardware) a 5-star rating for being the perfect size for boulevard cruising and short trips. But I take 2-stars off for the dificulty working with the two-point attachment hardware.
I bought this shield for my 1987 Honda VT700C, which has high-mounted twin "bullet" instrument clusters which interfere with just about any windshield, including this one. In addition, I have modified medium-rise handlebars.
If I mounted the shield forward of the instrument cluster, it was too far away to be effective. And if I mounted the shield in front of the instrument cluster, it was too close, too tall, or raked too much, and made the instrument cluster hard to read. The best placement of this shield (for my bike) is right through the instrument clusters. I had to cut away part of the shield to accomodate the instrument clusters. That's not a fault of the shield however, and just a feature of my particular bike. If you have to cut on this shield, be very careful -- the shield is fairly thin, and easy to crack or break.
The "two-point" attachment hardware is very difficult to work with, unless you are able to place the handlebar clamps so the attachment rods are in a vertical plane. If you have to mount the attachment rods out of the vertical plane, you will have difficulty placing and raking the windshield, because you will have to twist the attachment rods just right to secure the windshield well -- which is very difficult to do. I wound up junking the included hardware and making my own from scraps from other shield hardware. Maier would do well to include or offer an optional three-point mounting system to allow a more flexible mounting configuration.
I would recommend this shield to a friend, but with the admonition that if their bike had any feature out of the ordinary, he (or she) might have to be creative in making it fit well, including modifying the attachment hardware, or making your own."

Great small shield with small price...,

Pros: Inexpensive, Compact, Quick to install and remove.
Cons: Flops around a bit during initial installation, but not too bad.
"This is actually my second one of these. The first one broke when the bike was blown off its kickstand and onto a guard rail. The bike would have hit the ground had the shield not been there. While it broke, it still supported a 450lb. Honda Nighthawk.
The shield is compact for a small bike, but keeps a lot of wind off you in cold weather. It vibrates a touch over the headlight, but not much. Overall, it's a good value for a bike where spending $300 on a Rifle or other premium brand isn't worth it."

Pros: Easily Removable
Cons: Could use some better instructions with diagrams
"Just installed this on my 1984 Honda VT700 Shadow and it looks real nice. Have to wait till next season (getting cold here) to see how it works but I'm sure it will be great."
