"I installed this on my 2005 F-150. Product installed easy enough but I did replace the screws on the linkage with allen head screws. Made it a lot easier to get tight in a close space like inside the door."

"I got the 4 lock system for my Ford E150 cargo van, and fully expected to encounter some challenges mounting the actuators in the side and rear doors. The driver and passenger doors were easy, and the supplied harware was very useful. The supplied bracket strips were of little use, as they broke when I bent them at a 90 angle. I fabricated brackets using 2 X 4 lumber angle brackets. I used coiled guitar cord wire to supply the connections to the side cargo door, and used speaker wire to connect the back door lock. Also had to mount the back door actuator Above the lock stem, because Ford did not allow enough access inside that welded door panel. Took some doing, but it works perfectly. I have $$$ worth of tools in my van, and locking her is easy now. I also like the auto-lock feature, 5 seconds after starting engine, all the doors lock. No car-jacking and no stolen tools. Well worth the price. Took me about 6 hours total."

Pros: Easy, but time consuming to install. Cons: The usual, not enough wire...inoperative w/ignition on.
"This is a nice kit and easy to install but took about 6 hrs. to install on my '08 F-150. The only drawback is once you start the vehicle the remotes become non-operative so you still have to manually open the door to let a passenger in and manually re-lock or turn the ignition off, let the passenger in & restart the vehicle to lock the doors again. I solved this inconvienence by installing a switch in-line on the yellow (ignition) wire...while the ignition is on, flip the switch to "off", fooling the module to think the ignition was shut off, the doors unlock, passenger in, switch it "on" and they lock. I put the rocker switch on the panel to the right of the steering coloum so it's within reach of the passenger if need be. The only option I hooked-up was the parking lights. If you hooked-up the ignition cut-off feature this "fix" will still work as (I believe) the cut-off only disables the starter, not the ignition circut, so the vehicle won't die if you flip the system off. Overall, I'm very happy with the quality and convienence."

"Very easy to install. Hook ups clearly marked and laid out. Lots of extra connections for flashing park lights, interior light on, honking horn, trunk release, etc. Love the fact that doors lock when vehicle is started. Only complaint concerning that is that if you start vehicle with doors open and accidentally close them you need to have a key handy to get back in. All in all an excellent kit that should fit any vehicle that didn't come with factory door locks. Hardest thing is getting the door panels off. Some are far more difficult than others."

"I bought this kit for my 2004 Dakota it looked simple but had a lot of problems installing. The problem was mounting the actuators in the doors had to make my own actuator rods.Then the kit did not supply enough wire also if you want to have all the features to work you must buy optional relays.So do your home work before you start this prodject.After buying all the extra parts everything did work and very pleased."

"I installed this system in my 2001 Ford XL F150 extcab 4X4, it took alittle extra time on my part but I hooked up all options,and you can not tell it's not factory.. Horn beeps once for locked and twice for unlock, parking lights blink one for locked and twice for unlock,( you have to open the sytem and change negitive default jumper to positve for Fords, this is really simple its only 4 small screws to open unit and then change jumper ) and I really like this feature, interior light and cargo light come on when you unlock doors for 30 seconds or until you crank vehicle( by the way the wire to hook up this feature is on the passenger side kick panel, not the drivers side, just to save you alittle time.) To go from manual locks to power locks and looks and preforms like factory equipment is awsome... Thanks ICD and JcWhitney... By the way the remotes that came with my unit are smaller and seem to be nicer than the one pictured...I'm really impressed with this system, also when you crank vehicle doors lock and unlock when you turn vehicle off....and if you did not unlock locks with remotes and try to start vehicle horns beeps and parking lights flash ( if you choose to hook up horn and lights options)"

Pros: Great Price, Quality Components, Tech. Support was immediate. Cons: Its hard to believe, but there were no cons.
"My 1999, Dakota R/T, came without power door locks and for all the years since its purchase, I unbuckled my seatbelt and stretched across the tall center consol to lock and unlock the passenger door. A few weeks ago I was browsing JC Whitney's web site for parts and came upon this retro-fit door lock kit. I looked at it critically because I am very fussy about everything that goes into or on my R/T. After thinking about it overnight, I placed an order for the 2-door kit. It came quickly and I was impressed at the apparent quality of everything in the kit. This review now becomes a very short story, because installing it was quick and easy and it works great. I e-mailed a question to the tech support address provided about optional wiring and the reply came the following day. All of the components fit perfectly and I don't think an OEM installation would perform any better. This kit is definitely a 5-star bargain for quality, ease of installation and performance."

"I love this product worth my penies since now I dont have to worry about people not locking my doors. But I installed it in my 97 Ranger and my friends 95 Ranger each took about 4 hours from top to finish with a professional job.It did require additional wire but so far works flaweless along with an alarm if the car is started without being unlocked with the remote first and a panic button to keep people away or find my car."

"The wirings bark is worse than its bite. At first glance it looks pretty complicated, but its really not. I installed in one afternoon in a 2000 Ford Ranger. I did need extra wire for the passenger door, but no biggie. An affordable and just plain cool upgrade."

"I installed this system in my 2003 Ford F150 XL. It took a few hours and I did have to drill two small holes in the each (2) door panel. You will also need to purchase additional wire (for right-side lock actuator) when installing this in a full size pickup. The instructions could be a bit more specific, but it's really not that difficult. I even wired in my parking lights to flash with the lock/unlock. At this time, I would recommend it as an upgrade to standard vehicles."

"This set worked very well on my 2005 GMC Sierra truck. I took my time and installed them in less than 3 hrs. The wireing diagram was somewhat confusing but I managed not to burn up anything. I did not connect any of the other features (horn,parking lights,dome light) other than the door locks with remote.
Works great! Thanks JCW"

"I was unable to use the product as a suitable replacement for my Ferrari because I needed a three-wire connection and this product was only a two-wire. This information was not contained in the description when I elected to make the purchase and now requires me to return it.
However, it does seem to be made well and has attractive features and should work well for many applications."
