Ordering my third unit., November 7, 2008

Pros: Basic black, folds out of the way, sturdy, solid feel, Heavy duty clamp.
Cons: No way to quickly remove between drivers or vehicles.

"The folding knob is a great solid feeling product for the handicapped when in use position. Stowed it gets out of my way. My wife suffered a stroke and only has the use of her right arm. We have worn out one of these units in 12 years of just about daily use. I can not find a comparable unit for less than 50 bucks. Here in western PA, I am going to put one on the Ranger 4x4 for her winter driving. I don't think spinners are legal in PA but the local authorities use common sense and have been supportive of my wife. I wonder if they could engineer a quick release like the front wheel on bicycles so non handicapped drivers could remove the spinner. Or so the unit could be moved between vehicles and rental cars."

Pros: EASY INSTALL, OUT OF THE WAY WHEN NOT USING
Cons: DOES FOLD WHEN USING

"IF YOU HOLD IT BETWEEN YOUR INDEX FINGER & THUMB, YOU HAVE BETTER CONTROL OF THE FOLDING. I NEED THE KNOB BECAUSE OF NO USE OF MY RIGHT ARM, BUT MY HUSBAND ADMITS THAT IT REALLY DOESN'T BOTHER HIM (WHEN FOLDED) WHEN HE'S DRIVING."

FOLDING SPINNER KNOB, April 14, 2008

Pros: A boon to partially handicapped drivers with minimum use of one arm (in my case the left).
Cons: Minor: Not lubricated as received. Had to apply 3-IN-1 oil to stop sqeaking.

"Major Problem:
The pin holding the knob in place keeps coming out of its socket.
It would stay in if it were threaded and could be SCREWED, rather than pushed into place.
I am considering GLUING it with something like "Liquid Steel".
Any other suggestions?"

"We put the Folding Steering Wheel Spinner in our Suburban and my wife loves it. We had one in our other truck and that's why she wanted one in this truck. It makes it so much easier for her. It's a great product and the price is right."

"Very happy, works exactly as advertised. Can't imagine driving my work van without it. Should've gotten the non-folding one though - occasionally I'll reach for the knob and push it closed by mistake (I mounted it at the six o'clock position). At 12.99 I'll probably just spring for that. Thanks."

"Caution: This spinner may fold on you unexpectedly when you are cranking the wheel. Also, after a period of use, my spinner requires lubrication and the hinge pin tends to work its way out of the hinge."
