"NorCold 7.5 cu ft 3-way RV refrigerator - installed in 40ft Teton 5th-wheel RV
Usually when you buy things that have to be installed, the instructions aren't quite "correct" or don't take every instance into account; not so in this case! The fridge came with separate install and user manuals, the install manual had an install troubleshooting guide (which I read first, to see what kinds of things to expect)... Now granted, I put this in an RV which had previously had a 3-way, so all of the connections were already in place, but the previous owners had taped off or sealed the 12V and propane connections for several years, so I was expecting some issues... The install guide had instructions to cover bleeding the propane line, specific guidance on the 12V feed, how to secure the unit once it was in, etc... Being a do-it-yourselfer, I'm used to being left hanging with projects like this, so I was very pleasantly surprised when the install went as well as it did. And it has worked perfectly. It switches seamlessly when the 110V goes out, kicks in the propane, and, to test it, I unplugged the RV from the 110V and turned off the propane, the Norcold went into 12V and kept the ice from melting in the freezer for 30 hours off of my storage batteries before I plugged it back in... during the 1st week in August in Arkansas, when the temp in the RV was exceeding 120 deg F during the day while the AC was off.
The unit has all the features you'd expect in an RV unit; hi walls and dividers on the door compartments to keep things in place; crisper compartments with recesses to keep them from sliding during travel, etc. Workmanship is excellent, mine has no dings or scratches from handling, was packed very well for shipping. Has controls on the outside, so if you want to switch it manually between modes, you don't have to open the door (temp dial is still inside). The doors can be reversed depending on your installation location, and can be customized with different panels.
The only downsides I noted were that from reading the ad I thought it would come with black panels; and you only needed to buy the other panels for different colors; that was wrong, it comes unfinished. But a sheet of black 3/16" Lexan fixes that (if you wanted black) and in the warranty fine print there is a clause that says if you want the third year of the warranty you have to take it to a Norcold dealer sometime during the 2nd year for service; I don't know how big a deal that will entail, because I don't currently know where my closest Norcold dealer is..."
