Pros: easy to read display (large numbers, green display) Cons: it still works...:)
"I like this thermometer very much. Easy to install, nice shape, very useful – parallel out & in temperature. The only thing I don't like is the audible freeze warning (but you can turn it off, otherwise it's really annoying).
I am truly satisfied with JC Whitney customer service, and buying through JC Whitney was a great experience."

10 years and going strong,

Pros: inexpensive and durable Cons: battery door on rear
"I've used this instrument in my van and another of the same model on my motorcycle. Both performed flawlessly. The one in my van has been in place for 10 years now! I hard-wired its power cord to the fuse box instead of using the cigarette lighter. The AAA battery inside was so long-lived that it surprised me when it gave out (after 6 years on a motorcycle, in all sorts of weather)and I first thought something was wrong. I'm supposed to include a "con" with this review, and the only one I can think of is that I had to remove the instrument from the secure mount I had on the bike to get to its battery. But it really wasn't any trouble. Like the other reviewer, I find the freeze alert beeper annoying and keep it turned off. On a motorcycle, though, it's extremely helpful to be able to keep track of temperatures. The extremes in my van (20 degrees on winter mornings, 120 summer afternoons) didn't seem to bother the instrument. I'd buy it again, for sure, but it doesn't seem to be wearing out.-- RocDoc"

Pros: Accurate, easy to read display Cons: My first one gave out after 2 years
"Instead of using the cigarette lighter, I wired the 12v line to a switched fuse location on my '97 VW Golf GTI, and ran the outside temperature sensor out to the front of the engine compartment. When rolling with air flowing under the hood, I got accurate outside readings. They tend to heat up when stopped and idling in the summer, but that's to be expected. The backlight came on automatically the way I wired it, and stayed off when the engine was off. It showed me that my black/black car can get up to 135 degrees inside during the summer, which may explain why my first one died after a couple of years. But the information is useful, the display easy to read, and the values accurate. I really like knowing when the temperature is near freezing, especially when the roads are wet. I don't really like the audible freeze warning. Thankfully you can turn it off. Otherwise, you have to listen to a very distracting warning over and over. I recommend this, and I plan to buy another one. And BTW, buying through JC Whitney was a positive experience."

"This seems to be an accurate thermometer. It was very easy to install. It seems to be a bit bulkier then it needs to be to do the job but that is not much of a deal breaker. If you want to know the temp inside and outside the car, this is a good item to get."
