Brittle Plastic Sockets, February 23, 2009

Typical broken socket

Pros: Easy installation - sort of
Cons: Plastic sockets on passenger-side headlamp were all brittle and broke.

"The installation on the driver-side went without any problems. However, the passenger-side headlamp installation is a different story. The plastic sockets are supposed to slip over the metal ball ends on the car. However, the plastic sockets on the headlight assembly are too brittle and all three sockets on the headlight assembly broke as it was pushed over the ball end. Both the ball end and plastic socket had silicone grease applied. Fortunately, I was able to extract the plastic sockets from the old (original equipment) headlamp assembly and replace the defective plastic sockets that came with the Jeep Grand Cherokee headlamp. A job which should have taken a few minutes ended up taking over two hours with all the hassle."

"I ordered a pair of these for my 1996 F-150 to replace the 'yellowed' OEM headlights. Great product, great appearance, great performance and at the best price I could find. And I shopped around! I went to a local body shop to ask for direction on installation. The guy wound up helping me with it, and it was rather simple, although we wound up having to remove everything between the bumper and hood to get to the keeper clamps. This only took about 45 minutes total installation because of the body man's experience, but was MUCH more involved than I expected, probably due to the factory design of the truck. I am 100% satisfied with my new headlights!"

"I purchased new headlights for my 98 Tahoe and the vehicle looked great except for the dull lights. They were easy to install and made my Tahoe look like new. The value of the bulbs included with the lights made it an excellent value!."

"I purchased 2 headlight assemblies for my 1995 GMC Sierra SLE. After 11 years the factory lenses were very cloudy and needless to say I couldn?t see much further than the hood at night. I installed the 2 assemblies in less than an hour. The change was amazing."

"I shopped all the local auto parts stores for headlight assemblies for my '94 Ford Ranger. The best price I could find was twice the JC Whitney price. The headlight assemblies were easy to install (ten minutes) and looked as good as the originals when they were new. I would recommend these headlights to anyone. They even included the bulbs."
