"This hitch works great. It was easy to put on, good instructions. It took 2 of us about 2 hours. I use it to back (Drive Forward) my 31' Flag Staff into tight spaces. The road I live on is not wide enough. I have to take 1 wheel off the road, which doesn't work well when the ditch is muddy. It is so much easier to break down on the side of the road (which I have to do anyway) turn around & drive the trailer in forward. I can put my trailer in on a dime with ease on the 1st try (better than a fifth wheel). My uncle has a 28' fifth wheel that he lives in & travels the road & it took him about 45min to back in. I get it done in about 10min with break down included."

Front Receiver, February 20, 2009
By jhunni from Gallatin, TN

Pros: Easy install, makes winch use easy
Cons: none yet

"I installed this product myself with a socket wrench in about 20 minutes. It seems well built and sturdy. Has already come in handy for mounting my slip in winch and moving an 18' trailer into a tight barn. I was worried about distorting the air dam on my 2006 Silverado 2500, but it fit perfectly, no distortion."

Pros: Fast delivery, perfect fit, easy installation
Cons: Took me a while to find the new bolts hidden in the receiver

"With a floor jack, a socket wrench and about a half hour of easy installation we got a perfect fit. A reasonable price. Quick delivery."

Pros: heavy duty receiver
Cons: not as easy an install as advertised

"great hitch once installed. needed a front receiver on my '06 Dodge Ram 2500 HD 4X4 for my bike rack. install took about 3 hours, by myself. instructions stated hitch would slip right in and bolt to existing bumper brackets, it did not. on my 4X4 model, the tow hook adapters had to be removed and a flange cut off for the hitch to be installed. i use a sawzall to alter the brackets. be sure you have sharp drill bits and a grinder or sawzall if you want to get it installed quickly. all in all great hitch!"

"Installed on a 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic 2500HD truck, wife and I had it installed in 20 minutes. We finished long before my cup of coffee lost its steam. You take out the 4 bolts that are recommended (if you have tow hooks). You will want to leave the third bolt to the tow hook (outside bolt), for it will keep your holes aligned for easy installation of the new bolts. It looks great. Shipping was fast, excellent and was not scratched in anyway. As it is stated in the recommendations, if your vehicle has been wrecked or frame is warped, installation may not be as simple. I do not know now why I waited so long to buy this hitch other than I thought I might be able to build one cheaper (labor and material). NOT!""

"I bought this for my 1998 Toyota 4Runner and it looks awesome! This is a less expensive alternative to the Toyota brand hitches. However, I do wish they were more custom fitted like the OEM brands. My advice when installing is to not follow the bolt torque requirements. I followed it to the "T," but one of the bolts actually cross-threaded the hole in the frame as I was installing it (No, I did not torque the bolt quickly). Other than that, the hidden hitch is holding up fine!"

"I purchased this hitch for a 2003 Dodge Durango based on the reviews. It is a good hitch that was fairly simple to install. I was being extra careful, fitting the pieces before attaching them. Doing this it took me about 3 hours total.
The directions are simple and straight foreward requiring little intrepretation. The package of bolts contian more than you need so that can be a little confusing. The directions for my vehicle tell you to screw four bolts into the exisitng bumper mounts, but my vehicle had the holes, but they are not threaded. I simply used the nuts, washers and spacers that are included to bolt them on.
You have to cut the steel transmission skid plate and discard the wind dam to install the mount. Also, two of the four carriage bolts are a little longer than the others.
I think the mount is a good one and the hitch point hangs just behind and below the factory license plate holder. The hitch point is also closed in the back but is long enough to allow a fairly long tang to be used. I think it would be better if it were left open (it would be easier to clean it out when it gets plugged. The mount is barely visible looking at the vehicle.
The two tow hooks that are attached to the mount are really too far under the vehicle to make good use of them. They are still usable, but I can easily see where you might damage your plastic bumper if you had to use them to pull out at any significant upwards angle."

"I just installed the front hitch on my 99 F250 superduty. It was a very easy installation with just four holes to drill in the bumper. No modification to any body work

I did make some modifications though. On the passenger side I ground a little off of one of the braces to make sure it didn't rub on the air conditioning condensor. Also I welded on a stop to the back side of the receiver tube to make sure that when I installed something into it I did strike the condensor. Very pleased with the hitch. Total time with mods - 2 hours"

"I loved the handy little screw springs that came with this hitch!!! They made the installation a snap. I installed a front and rear hitch in a little over an hour on a 1999 K1500 Suburban. Without the screw springs it would have taken me an hour to drop the gas tank and fit the metric bolts into the frame. Cutting the valance was not perfect but for now I left the valance off and it looks ok."

"This one wasn't too bad to install on my 05 Ram 3500 Quad. Drilling is required, but there was no cutting of body parts. I really like being able to get my bike rack on the front so that I can take it when I have my camper hooked up.

Instructions were clear, and all of the hardware was there. Very quality product for half the price I have seen elsewhere."

"The notes say "No drilling except as noted." Problem is that it's only "noted" after you buy it and read the instructions. For my 2005 Tahoe LT, drilling IS required. It wasn't difficult. I also had to cut out for the air dam (but I figured that out beforehand). My biggest dismay was that the pieces you are supposed to thread into the frame were not long enough and simply spun inside as I tried to tighten the bolts. (This is why I gave a low rating). I wound up welding on more steel to these "keepers" to get the bolts to tighten correctly. It is a nice hitch and in all fairness, I bought the same hitch for my 1996 Yukon and the installation went flawlessly - no drilling & it had all correct parts! One last note - This hitch can be installed in a "high" or "low" position. In the low position, you only have to cut the small 3" air dam (how I did mine). It does alter clearance and approach angles. I would have preferred to install it in the higher position but the larger air dam would have been very difficult to cut out precisely and the hitch pin would be behind the dam. That means in order install or remove the hitch pin, you'd have to crawl under the vehicle to reach it. Initially I was worried about striking the ground in steep driveways, but so far I haven't had any problems."

"This is a nice addition to my 2004.5 RAM 3500. The hitch fit perfectly to the frame and the installation went fairly smooth once I had the right tools. You need to drill into your frame for the bolt holes and for a insert/guide hole for the bolts. The pull wire is included for this. Make sure you have a good hole saw bit because mine was what slowed me down. I ended up picking up a step bit and it really did the job but added to the time and the cost of my installation.

The one thing that I would recommend Hidden Hitch start including in there package is some sort of plug to fill the 1 1/4" holes left in the frame from the guide/bolt hole. I would have paid a few extra $$$ for it.

Also make sure you have shop vac, safety glasses, jacks (or something) to hold bumper up and good drill bits."
