Nice product,
May 13, 2009
By pkupman82from Muskegon, MI
Pros: fit nicely... powdercoat holds up well Cons: none
"I bought one of these grill guards for my 84 F150 4x4 several years ago and it has held up very well. On my particular vehicle it bolts directly to the frame which made it very sturdy. It fit very nicely to the contour of the bumper. I am so happy with this product I am going to order one for my 96 F150 4x4. Nice product, great value; thanks JCW!"

Looks nice, fits well,
January 11, 2009
By turbojimmyfrom New Jersey
Pros: Mounting points followed contour of bumper Cons: Mounting points are NOT as pictured - 4 new holes required
"The picture shows the lower tabs as mounting underneath the bumper, where there are already holes. This is not the case on my '95 F150. The lower tabs are flat against the face of the bumper. I had to drill 4 new holes. Even so, it was a 30-minute install - very easy. Had it come with hardware it would have been easier. But I had to take the time to run to my local hardware store to pick up $1.50 worth of carriage bolts and nuts to install it. I belive this was a shipper mishap as the box was torn open, so I didn't ding the bar itself in my review.
The bar bolts together, and the bolts come with plastic caps for the bolt heads for appearance purposes. They fall off immediately so make sure you glue them on.
Overall you can't beat it for the money. Gives the truck an aggressive look and a nice place to mount lights."

Grille Guard,
November 5, 2008
By MUDHAWG
Pros: Looks Good and Easy to Install and a GREAT PRICE
"I would recommend this grille guard to anyone. Its easy to install and looks Great. I put the black grille guard on my 92 Full size Bronco. I used it to mount my PAR-36 Firefighter Lights to run code. The guard served its purpose for me and it really does protect the front end of my truck. Its a great deal. Don't Pass it up."

Decent,
October 28, 2008
By Bowtie305from Cape Cod, MA
Pros: Solid construction, easy to install Cons: Fitment was pretty poor.
"This is a pretty decent grille guard... It feels solid, it's easy to install (took me about 45 minutes to an hour, but I'm slow at everything), and looks awesome. I have a 1998 Chevrolet K1500 and I bought the black powder-coated grille guard.
I was disappointed in the fitment, though. The contours for the bumper strip in the grille guard weren't really deep or tall enough, and all of the mounting tabs weren't able to touch the bumper all at once. If you look it from the side, there's a noticeable gap between the grille guard and the bumper. When I was "dry-fitting" it, the only time that the bumper strip did fit into the contours of the guard, the top of the grille guard was in contact with the grille.
But if you step back and look at it, it looks great. While the gaps do kinda disappoint me, it does look really good overall. And it feels like the thing is part of the bumper with how secure it is.
Overall, a decent product."

Pros: Fedex lost my first grill guard , J C Whitney sent me another grill guard A.S.A.P. Cons: The welding on the mounting tabs was poor.
"Fit was very good, I was very pleased with the overall apperance of the grill guard on my 85 chev 4x4. I am a welder by trade and thought that the welding on the mounting tabs should not have passed inspection. If it had not been chrome, I would have rewelded the tabs."

Pros: Easy to install, looked good on my Bronco II, very strong
"I installed this Grill Guard on my 1985 Bronco II about 5 years ago. It looked great and was an easy install although I had to reversed the end plates to mount it without drilling additional holes. Held up well even when the truck was shipped to Belgium by ocean cargo carrier, no corrosion, no rust and the shippers are well known for their carelessness, found that they had anchored the BII to the deck with cables through the guard. Now I am buying another for my new BII. Great product"

"I bought this for my 96 Silverado unsure of what it was really going to look like. It turns out it looks a lot like the factory unit as I wanted. The only difference I can tell is the way it mounts to the bumper instead of the frame. For the price, it is well worth it seeing the factory unit costs over $400.00 and this was less than $90. It did come with small chips in the powder coating from the packing, but I sealed it up with some black RTV gasket maker and you cant tell the difference unless you are touching it. The installation mount tabs were slightly off, but nothing a hammer couldnt fix. Overall, I would get this again if I had to."

"I bought this for my 97 F150 and I got what I expected, for the price there is nothing else on the market and it shows, no frame mounting, a small ding and chip in the finish, the light tabs need to be set an inch or two closer to the center or better still four tabs. fit and finish is not perfect but I expected all this when I ordered a grill guard that cost less than the the monting brackets of the others. with the placement of some rubber tubing to avoid metal to metal contact and fashion some rubber isolation blocks for the mounting tabs and it looks good, if I wanted real protection I would have have bought an A.R.B. or similar bumper."

"i have a 1998 ford explorer that i put this item on and it looks very nie.the whole package was worth buying.the only complaint that i have is the bolts that came with it.i bought a black grille guard so i would have hoped that it came with black bolts. it didn't ,it came with silver colored standard bolts. i went and bought new pan head bolts and painted them black and it looks great.over all the product was wonderful. thank you"
