Excellent kit, July 21, 2009
By 2000taco from Upstate New York

Pros: high quality and pretty good instructions
Cons: the kit doesnt include a drop for the front df so it is pobably putting alot of pressure on the cv joints

"On my 2000 toyota tacoma i saw about 3 inches of lift in the back and over 4 inches in the front. It took me about 10 hours to complete and i am no mechanic. The old studs on one of the struts were too rusty to unbolt so i had to have the spring compressed and replace the old studs with bolts.I think overall the hardest part about this kit was having to buy taller jack stands but thats what harbor freight is for :)"

good eddition to my 97 cherokee, May 18, 2009
By jason97 from glen ellyn, Il

Pros: cost effective and had all the parts
Cons: came with smaller diameter u bolts

"went on ok, lited my jeep higher than I thought it would, great clearance for 31" tires with the 3" lift. only problem is when I turn hard the new tires rub on the lower control arms. still gotta figure out how I can fix that. The U blots were 2 3/4" diameter and my tube was 3" got them on but it took some doing. all in all Im happy with the results."

3" Lift Kit, March 7, 2009
By FirstTimeJeeper from Middleville, MI

Pros: Front Fits Perfect!
Cons: The kit came with parts that didnt fit.

"First of all i installed this on my 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4. I installed the front with no problems at all and fits perfect! I got to the back and the blocks have the peg on the bottom and didnt fit in my axle. The U-Bolts also did not fit around my axle. after going to autozone and getting some new u bolts and drilling out the axle holes...everything went together fine. Then lastly i had to remove my rear sway bar because the linkage rubbed on my tires. so i recommend getting bigger rims before buying this lift kit. other than that...it was an alright addition to my jeep!"

good product, January 8, 2009
By SLING

Pros: parts are very good quality i was impressed with that
Cons: not enough pics and the instructions were not very complete

"I put the 4.5 complete lift kit on an 85 Jeep Cherokee. The project is definietly for sombody who knows a little about vehicles and is good with there hands i worked at a dealership for four years. I only used hand tools and it took me five days. the hard part was not really installing but taking the old stuff off. Some of the bolts didnt quite fit right and with the transfercase drop i had cut a peice of the floor board out to be able to shift into 2nd 4th and reverse. i am pleased with how it performs and the looks"

2" 84 GMC P/U 2wd, November 18, 2008
By 84SEAN2wd from Brighton, TN

Pros: Easy installation, Easy to read instructions
Cons: NONE

"This kit looks great. It has given my 2wd p/u a new lease on life. This kit was easy to install, the only problems I had was taking the old hardware off! It took about 8 hours to complete the install, but like I said, 90% was the tear down. After breaking 1 pickle fork, and having to cut 1 lower ball joint off w/ a saw, the new stuff went on w/ ease. The front of my truck came up 5.5" on a 2" lift. My old springs were original equipment and were just plain worn out. After 25 years, I'm not surprised. My truck sits just as high as my same year 4x4. When I put my 31x10.5x15's on here, it will lift it another 1.5""

Cons: i had to fit it myself

"this is a very good product, it took me 2 days to fit but as im not a machanic i didnt think that was bad.
would recomend to anyone, the kit had good instructions i would advise a set of spring clamps to fit the front easily.
overall lift looks great just what i wanted.

93 Bronco 2.5" lift, June 26, 2008

Ease of Use/Installation: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5
Features: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5
Quality/Construction: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Pros: Kit came with drop brackets for both axles and radius arms, brackets are thick welded pieces not stamped thin junk.
Cons: Installation was a major project!

"The kits was of good quality materials. I would recommend getting a couple of friends to help during installation, did mine by my self, big mistake. Air tools a must! Hardware that came with the kit wasn't for my kit, ended up using my own hardware. Instruction were copied so many times most was smeared, picture were also blurred. A major tool needed but not mentioned is a heavy duty 1/2" drill! Radius arm brackets were a head ache, poor design, had to mount then half unmount inorder to get other bolts up behind mount bolts, even then due to clearence you can't get air tools in to tighten them, had to hand tighten a 1/4" turn at a time. Plan on spending the day for installation."

1987 GMC Suburban 4" lift, May 30, 2008
By uplandhawaii from Big Island, HAWAII
Ease of Use/Installation: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5
Features: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5
Quality/Construction: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Pros: Inexpensive, easy to install
Cons: Not a complete lift package

"The RC 4" lift includes new front leaf springs, poly bushings, u-bolts for front and rear and 4" blocks. The lift is basic and requires only some simple hand tools, stands and a floor jack.
The stock front leaf springs are replaced by the 4" arched springs and the rear is lifted by installing a 4" block between the axle and springs.
To complete this lift you'll need longer shocks and longer brake lines. The stock parts will not allow for full flexing of the suspension.
Overall a very economical lift that offers decent flex offroad while maintaining a streetable ride on the highway. Stiffer than the stock ride but no more worse than a full size truck.
It allows up to a 35" tire with no fender trimming.

Quality/Construction: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Pros: This kit has high quality of construction and is an excellent value for the money.
Cons: Installation was not the easiest but that was pretty much expected. It's not Rough Country's fault.

"Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with this kit. Excellent quality and good price. When I first put the kit on I got sort of scared because I thought that I had gotten 4" springs instead of 2.5". The truck seemed too high. I have a few hundred miles on truck now since the installation and the truck rides as well as it always did and the springs seem to have settled evenly giving the truck the correct lift I was looking for. I definitely recommend it."

Pros: Not just a block kit. Included Shocks
Cons: Paint on coil springs.

"Overall this is a really nice kit. Mine came with front coil springs and rear add-a-leaf's. I'm a little picky with detail and the paint on the coil springs was thick and peeling where they laid on whatever surface they were painted on. The kit came from Rough Country with 2 3/4" U-bolts instead of 3" as my Dana 35 required. JC Whitney has been more than kind and helpful regarding this and made sure I got the right ones at no cost to me. Thanks JC Whitney for being such an understanding and customer oriented company!"

"Put a three inch lift on my Cherokee. It took me and a friend two hours to install. It's taken some punishment in the Arizona desert and shows no sign of weakness after 5,000 miles. Durable lift, easy to install. I'm going to swap it out with a four to six inch kit soon and plan on staying with Rough Country."

"I bought Rough Country kits from JC for my past 2 trucks.
After 300,000 miles with no problems, I stuck with the good deal. The new kit went on easy and I didn't need any other hardware. The truck now takes the hills with authority!

"This is the second high lift I have installed on Jeep Cherokees. The Rough Country kit has better features and fit than the brand we put on the other one. The lower control arms slipped right in and the front end shop was able to get the alignment back to factory specs. (A real benefit to tire wear.) It handles the offroad driving with authority. Thanks JC for a product with real value!"

"My son puchased a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic last summer and had to have this lift kit. I was a little worried about lifting his Jeep since I have heard about them being top heavy and roll easy, but I gave in and ended up purchasing the lift kit for his 17 birthday. The next weekend him, a friend that had experience with installing lift kits and I installed the lift kit. After the installation, the kit just did wonders to the Jeep. It looked like a whole other Jeep. My son brags about his lift kit and how well it rides. I've rode in it as well and it rides excellent. We've taking it hunting and have had no problems with getting in and out of our hunting spot. I have no worries about the roll over issue anymore since the 3 inches of lift seemed to be a perfect amount. I would recomend a Rough Country lift kit to anyone. It looks great and performs great and at a good price."
