Dissapointed with shocks, June 16, 2009
By DavidM from Iowa

Cons: Missing one grommet and leak air

"Back on 2/26/09 I placed an order for some air shocks through your website. I put the air shocks on my truck yesterday. I was dissapointed to find that one of the shocks was missing the lower rubber grommet. I had to go buy one for $5. I aired the shocks up to 80psi, they are supposed to be air upped between 25 and 200. This morning I went out to find them at 0 psi. All the air leasked out. They were installed according to instructions, and the truck just sat over night. I can't take the shocks off the truck to return them without getting some different shocks. I have ordered several huindred dollars worth of stuff from JCWhitney, but I am not impressed with this item."

will not fit, November 24, 2008
By taterbug721 from Villa Rica, Ga.

Pros: look to be well made
Cons: would not fit my truck

"Hello I'm just trying to save some time & trouble for someone ordering these air shocks for a 2001 Dodge Quad Cab short bed 5.2 engine. I ordered a set for this truck & they won't fit, the holes in the bushings are to small & they are to short. They look to be well made though, I just wish they would fit. I called customer service at JC Whitney & they were very helpful, they are sending me a return label to send them back. It cost me $40.00 to have the old shocks taken off & put right back on LOL. Hope this helps someone. Taterbug"

Great value, November 6, 2008
By texashunter from Coldspring, Texas

Pros: Easy installion

"When coupled with the electronic contoller these shocks are great as the pressure can be increased or decreased from inside the truck. They have eliminated rough rides when the truck is heavily loaded"

1994 Toyota Truck, August 7, 2008

Pros: Installation is easy. works great
Cons: plastic connectors seem flimsy

"We bought these shocks for the rear on our 1994 Toyota Truck 2wd. These shocks level out the rear great when we have a load of oranges(approximately 900-1000 Lbs) The Truck rides great while under a load. The only drawbacks to these shocks are the screw on plastic connectors. While air tight, they seem quite flimsy and cheap. Also, when not loaded and with the shocks at the minimum air pressure (25 Lbs) It rides a little rougher than it did with the stock-type gas shocks. But the benefits of these shocks greatly outweigh the negative aspects."

Pros: Keeps your tow vehicle from sagging.
Cons: Air hose connectors are kind of fragile.

"I really like these shocks. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on air springs or helper springs to put on my tow vehicle, a 2001 Chevy Astro. Put these on in less than an hour and now I can tow my camper without my vehicle sagging. I did break one of the connectors for the air lines even though I followed the directions. Called customer service and they sent me a new air line kit. Just be carefull not to overtighten the connectors."

Great Shocks, July 15, 2007

Pros: Very easy installation (took 15 minutes for both rear shocks)/ Holds a lot of extra weight/ looks good/ rides amazing/
Cons: Instructions are very vague, but not rocket science by any means

"I have a 96' Jeep cherokee w/ about 700 lbs. of extra stereo equipment in the cargo area. which made my rear tires rub over the slightest bump. I installed another brand of air shocks ($10 cheaper) and was barely able to clear the rear tires at maximum pressure, which made pulling my boat impossible. W/ my new shocks I can fill it to just 1/2 the maximum air pressure, while hauling my stereo equipment and pulling my boat & it still sits @ normal ride height! It is like driving a brand new Jeep! The ride is very smooth & stable. I am putting a pair on the front of my vehicle & considering the electronic controller (Just for Fun!) Highly recommended!"

Gabriel Roadhandler Heavy Duty Shocks, July 18, 2006

Ease of Use/Installation: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

"In 2000, we purchased these roadhandler heavy duty shocks for our F-250 with a 1 ton undercarriage.

Now in 2006, we actually got 120,000 miles out of those shocks and that says alot about the quality of Gabriel shocks- which is awesome.
They provided our truck which we call MOOSE, a nice stiff ride and the load that these shocks stood up to was > 1.5 tons of gravel or sand , etc.

I hope to find the roadhandlers again . I will continue to look onlline for them, and I would certainly recommend them to anyone.
