Sharp Seat Cover,
June 2, 2009
By mnolesfrom St. Louis, MO
Pros: Price, Quality Construction, Ease of Installation
"I bought this custom fit seat cover for my 1982 Yamaha 550 Maxim. I fit it right over the old cover using a strong staple gun to attach it. It installed easily in about 30 minutes, stretched really nice and looks like a million bucks. The stitching is strong and looks great. A custom upholstery shop couldn't have made it look any better. It's a great price and I'd recommend it to everyone in need of a seat makeover. It does, however, take a really strong staple gun to shoot into the heavy plastic of the seat pan. I put staples about 3/4 in. apart and several of them wouldn't go in all the way so I'd have to remove the staple and shoot it again to get one to seat all the way or shoot it then tap in the rest of the way with a small hammer. No big deal though. It's a great way to give that older bike new life. Give it a try."

great buy,
April 26, 2009
By theaxeslingerfrom wappingers falls,n.y.
Pros: fit great Cons: could use a little more padding
"fit on my 83 500 shadow, installed for the time being over the old seat cover, great fit. if you put in new foam, letting it sit in the sun for an hour probably would help fit it better, but good product overall"

Pros: Easy and quick fix.
"This product can give you a very good looking replacement for an old bad looking cover at a fraction of the cost. I used this cover on a 96 Kawasaki Concourse. I shaved and sculpted the seat a little to find the perfect shape and then glued and pop riveted the cover for a permanent attachment, took some time and effort to get it perfect but it happened and am perfectly satisfied with the outcome. The seat looks like a factory new item. Thanks JC Whitney for the great product."

Pros: Easy installation, custom fit, just like a new seat Cons: Photo on web site does not match seat cover
"This seat cover is an exact fit for my 1982 Honda 450 Nighthawk. I would recommend removing the old seat cover and placing the new cover in the sun for an hour or so. Or using a heat gun on the cover. I used a heat gun on the cover and got excellent stretch out of it. This made the seat look like new. The stitching on the seat is tight and looks very well made. I would not recommend installing this cover over the original seat cover because it will make installing the seat back on the bike more diffucult due to the added material thickness. This cover has a drawstring so you can install without stapling as a perminant fix. However this made the cover look sloppy so I chose the perminant method which was very easy to do. My local upolstery shop would have installed this cover for $30...so that may be an option for you if you don't want to install it yourself. Keep the quality products coming JC Whitney, Just work on the exact product photos...."

Pros: GOOD QUALITY MATERIAL Cons: NOT VERY EASY TO INSTALL
"THE SEAT COVER ITSELF IS NOT WHAT IS PICTURED ONLINE. IT HAS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT PATTERN THAN WHAT IS SHOWN. THE ITEM DESCRIPTION STATES THAT IT IS BACKED WITH 1/2" FOAM, BUT IT IS MORE LIKE 1/4" OR LESS. INSTALL OF THIS ITEM IS NOT VERY EASY IF YOU WANT IT TO LOOK GOOD. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ITEM."

Pros: looks great, premium material Cons: better be ready to work it for a couple of hours
"This product, if done by the detailed instructions, can give you a perfect replacement for an old ripped up cover at a fraction of the cost. Have a 1978 Honda GL1000 Goldwing and have never liked the feel of the of the factory seat, I shaved and sculpted the seat a small amount to find the perfect shape and then opted for the perminant method of cover atachment, took some time and effort to get it perfect but it happened and am perfectly satisfied with the outcome, the guys think it is a high dollar replacement and are very surprised when I tell them the rest of the story. Thanks JC Whitney for the great product."

"Our bike is old, a 1983 Honda CB1000 Custom, and parts are basically extinct. Me and my husband installed the cover together in about 30 minutes and it looks like new. Instead of removing the old cover, we decided to try to put the new cover over the old one and it worked perfectly. The original cover was stapled on, so we stapled the new one on with a heavy duty staple gun. It helps when 2 people work together - one to hold the cover in place and the other to staple. When the seat is placed upside down on a flat surface and pressure is put down on the padding, the cover is able to give easier and provides a good tight fit. The built in drawstring was not needed. We are so proud of the result, it couldn't have fit any better. We want to ride it everywhere!"

"kawasaki, 750 LTD, 1982 After reading other reviews and talking to the dealers to (make sure all the numbers and letters on my bike matched), then I was ready to order, and it is a exact match to the original seat that came on the bike when it was new. It went on easy, and looks great."

Great Product,
June 21, 2006
By RebelDadfrom Houma, LA
"I purchased a 1982 Honda CB900C with a ripped seat. At first I was very skeptical about ordering a replacement seat cover over the internet. Boy was I ever wrong. When I got the cover in, it was an EXACT fit. The stitching in the seat was perfect, and the installation was as easy as pie. Total install time was about 5 min. I could not have asked for better. That was 2 years ago and the seat still looks new. I would recommend this product to everyone."
