"Got this for use on my 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara (w/external locked spare tire carrier) I Love that it carries 3 bicycles because I have 3 kids! I've found it simple to mount and secure once it's on, even without any bicycles. However, since this is not a locking carrier, I went and purchased an outdoor 5 foot cable lock to secure the carrier to my spare tire. With my own bicycle or that of the kids, I just snake it thru the (locked) spare wheel openings, carrier and bicycle frames and they're NOT going anywhere! I've had this for 2 summers already and it handles the weather great so I leave it on almost year round! I did loose one of the caps that goes over the tube ends, but I just duct-taped it closed.
It said in the literature that the way it carries the bicycles keeps them from getting damaged by heat and fumes from the exhaust pipe and, even with my large adult bicycle, I've happy to say that I've found it to be true. Even with the "high" carrying position, I haven't had any problems seeing thru my rear view mirror. And the long straps, used to secure the bicycles, help, especially with the newer boy's style speed bikes with the wider frame(instead of the regular round tube frame).
I think that the greatest feature for me is that I can get access my rear "trunk" area simply by swinging the rear door COMPELTELY open, even with 3 bicycles loaded on the carrier (the rear door is mounted on side hinges so it opens to the side), which is unlike how I used to open the rear cargo area with my old trailer hitch mount, but let's not go there. ( "Dad, can u get my game/book/cd/mp3(whatever!!!) out of the back"... Uugh!!!)
Hope this helps..."

Pros: Easy installation, stable and easy to mount bikes
"I got this mount for a Jeep Wrangler to carry my bike to off road places to ride. It was a cinch to install and is so easy to put the bikes on. I highly recommend this product."
