Good, but jacks are application specific, May 4, 2007

"The height capability of these jacks is second to none at 2 feet. They are well made, and with the large top mounting flanges, can be adapted to many applications. Now the bad news.... In the closed position, you have only 2 inches clearance for the hand crank, from the drive screw to the ground. This may only matter if using the jack from the ground. If hanging under the RV (mounted) maybe no problem. This same application limitation applies to the crank itself. It can open and close the jack easily, but not under a loaded vehicle. The crank is lightweight and much of the energy is lost in the twisting of the crank itself. Rated for 5,000 lbs yes, but you'll never come close to lifting 5K with this setup. This is further limited if you plan to use the jacks at or near the closed position. Much more effort is needed to lift an object with the jack flat, than with it in the half open position. Think of them more as "stablizer" jacks, than "lifting" jacks. I also found that I bent the top flanges badly after just a couple of lifts. If you arn't going to mount them, then welding or bolting a plate across the top flanges to spread the load is recommended. Some good news...JCW sells these jacks for less than the MSRP, and you can chuck the wimpy crank and use your lug wrench with these jacks to raise a load. The good outweighs the bad."
