"I bought this kit for a 1970 Baja Bug. Overall very pleased with this kit. Installation was very easy. I was able to remove the old brakes and spindles and install all the new parts in about two hours....with the exception of the speedometer cable. As manufactured it is difficult to insert the cable thru the driver side spindle. I solved this by redrilling the hole from both the inside and outside. I didn't enlarge the hole, just made it deeper. Note: the passage is manufactured by drilling from both directions and the two bores meet at a slight angle. The problem is that the angle is too steep. By drilling deeper from both sides, the angle opens up enough to allow the cable to easily slip through. Second thing to watch out for: kit IS NOT complete. To be complete it should include front wheel bearing grease seals! I had to make a special trip to the auto parts store to get them. If you're ordering the kit, order a set of seals as well. Stock ones fit fine....no special parts needed. Have fun! Brakes bled easily and stop great....far better than stock drums."

"I bought this product for my 1969 beetle. I only bought the front conversion kit.
I made the mistake of thinking I could finish this in a weekend... First off, I had trouble removing the older spindles.
The top side came off easily and the bottom one required threading the 'bolt' part of a pitman puller through the top ball joint hole and pressing the bottom one out.
The tie-rod ends were tough to press out as well because the smallest tie-rod puller I could find wouldn't fit...I bought new tie rod ends and unscrewed the old ones using the spindle for leverage.
Installlation wasn't bad...it was simply prying the torsion arms apart and placing the new spindles in place. Pressing the races into the rotors took a while to get it right. Once the rotors were on, I used the new spindle nuts to hold them on...only to find out the hex bolt was too long for the dust cap to fit over it with enough clearance to turn. So use the OG spindle nuts. And for that matter use the original dustcaps, because the right side dust camp didn't press onto the rotor.
MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT: the hole through the left spindle (where the spedo cable goes through) isn't rounded enough for the spedometer cable to go through. So, no spedometer = no odometer... you get the point...
At this point, I still have to bleed the calipers and find a way to get the spedo cable through the spindle...and get power back to the garage to get the car off the lift...
Good luck and take it slow if you want to do this conversion. Make sure you have a broad imagination and wide array(i think thats how you spell it) of tools before you start disassembly."
