2008 Nissan Titan Problem, February 12, 2009
By Buckshot5 from Fort Worth, TX.

Pros: Great looking, well made, sturdy
Cons: 5 piece application for all 2004 - 2009 Titans

"When I rec'd the box it showed 2005-2007 TITAN. I contacted Putco to check if the part number sent was correct for a 2008 Titan. They said it should fit 2004-2009 Titans and no other P/N was available. Also informed me that the left rear trim was in 2 parts to accomodete a tool box located behind left rear wheelwell. I do not have this option on my truck and do not want a split in the trim. I contacted customer service for direction. They were very helpful and am returning this trim set for a refund."

Pros: Well packaged for shipping, looks fantastic
Cons: None

"I ordered the half-coverage item for my 2005 Dodge RAM SRT-10, but it was still too long due to the cladding that is used only on the SRT-10 model. It was a perfect fit though as far as the shape of the wheel well opening (no surprise since it is the standard RAM body). I used my Dremel rotary tool with a Metal cut off wheel. The regular thickness wheel lasts much longer than the "thin-cut" so you will save a lot by not using as many wheels. Get the new EZ LOCK shaft as it is so superior to the old shafts with a screw at the end. When and if you have to cut your trim, start with the cut off wheel at the edges of the trim, as if you try to start anywhere else the wheel will not bite in immediately but wander and scratch up the polished finish. The rubber molding can be peeled away, if you are very careful, and then re-attached to the newly cut edges. Make sure to break both sides of the molding free by sliding a knife under them as they are glued on and whatever rubber was used is a little brittle. You have to actually hold the trim up to the wheel well to get the angle of the cuts exactly right so that it fits right up against the cladding with a perfect horizontal match. I used a felt tip marker to draw the cut lines, and rechecked a couple times just to be sure, as if you cut it too short, there is no going back. I actually drew my lines to err on the side of too long, just in case, although it ended up requiring more cuts. It only takes about a minute to cut through the trim, but do it somewhere that you don't mind the metal dust being thrown everywhere by the cutting wheel. Eye protection, of course, is a MUST. I didn't want to drill through the wheel lip so I used 3M trim tape. Make sure to clean the surface on the trim as well as on the paint where the trim tape will contact, with alcohol first (be sure to dry off the alcohol with a soft cloth as it has water in it and might decrease the adhesion. Next, apply 3M Adhesive Promoter to the same surfaces, and let it dry a few minutes before you apply the trim tape. I attached the tape to the steel fender trim first. No matter how you do it, figure out a way to insure that you don't prematurely let the tape contact the mounting surface, as once it does, it's permanent and there is no moving it around after that. I put the tape on the inside of the vertical surface of the trim, so that I could push the trim up against the wheel well lip before sliding the trim in to contact the prepared surface of the truck exterior around the wheel well opening. You may have a slight wavyness to the trim initially, because you can't avoid pushing harder in some spots that in others while you are attaching it, but once the truck sits out in the sun for a while, everything seems to smooth out as the heat softens the tape and allows a little "settling" of the steel trim."

Great Purchase!, October 20, 2008
By max04 from Illinois

Pros: Looks great. Accents the chrome rims nicely.
Cons: Front drivers side has slight bend probably from shipping. Had to remove the emblems to make room for trim on front.

"Can't beat the value. These look great on my truck and fit perfectly. Trim on the front driverside was slightly bent but still looks great. Had to relocate the HEMI emblems to make room for the front trim. Easily installed using the drill method and screws supplied with order. Thought the clips would jar loose and cause the trim to pull away or fall off."

Pros: Great new look.
Cons: I had to remove mud flaps. . .

"I had a small problem with having to remove the mud flaps prior to installation of the fender trim. Otherwise, I like the Clean, smooth look of the Chrome trim. I was very pleased with the new look highlighting my Chrome Wheels. One of the fender trims had a slight dent (probably from shipping) but it was tolerable. I'm pleased overall."

Pros: Good appearence and fit, hardware included

"Bought to use on my 2006 F-250 Ford Quad cab. Make practical addition for both looks and fender edge protection. Provided clips are quick and easy, but I question permanentcy. Screws as provided much better way to go. All that is needed is drill and screwdriver."

"I was very pleased with the appearance and fit of the mouldings. They look great and are Stainless. They also fit my 3500 Dual Wheel 4x4 Dodge truck. These mouldings are hard to find for that application.
Thanks Again

"I was surprised to find out when I opened the box that this is a Putco product, and, since I've used and currently have Putco products on my truck I couldn't wait to get them on. However, if you have installed above average mudflaps like I have you will need to remove them in order to install these moldings and then re-install the mudflaps over the trim on the wheel well lip. Also, if you have a Dodge with a Cummins Diesel like I do, the Cummins emblem on the front fender just behind the side marker lights will have to be relocated further toward the front as these moldings will interfere with that emblem. Other than that they look great on the truck, especially if your truck is a dark color. There are two ways to install them...with the screws provided or they include tabs that hook them onto the lip...I would recommend the screws as they would be a more permanent fix as opposed to the screwless tabs that seem a bit flimsy and may break going down the road."
