Affordable Replacement Seats,
June 26, 2008
By Jezze
from Bay Area, CA
|
Pros: Great looking and very affordable seats, and lighter than the original seats.
Cons: Slider/mounting brackets should be designed to fit more popular vehicles, without having to drill holes.
"The main disadvantage to these seats are the slider/mounting brackets. I had to fabricate brackets to make it fit to the existing mounting holes of the car, because I did not want to drill new holes to the car chasis, and to give it a more custom fit look. Also, more popular colors, such as Tan or Beige, should be made available, to better match the interior of the car. Otherwise, they are well worth the price paid for."

Pros: Very good value
Cons: Packing
"One of boxes came ripped up. UPS guys are sometimes rough. Purchased for Datsun Z and seat is about 1" too wide at the top and hit door. Measure carefully. Ad should had all measurements, but I shoud have asked."

Great seat for the price,
May 1, 2008
By Jessie

Pros: Pretty comfortable but I haven't installed them yet.
Cons: To recline, you have to turn the knob until you reach the desired inclination
"These will go into a '68 VW Baja Beetle. I haven't installed them yet, still waiting for other parts that I need. On the floor, they seem comfortable and sturdy, especially for the price. I'm not crazy about having to turn a knob to reach the desired inclination but I figure this won't be a big deal once you get it where you want."

Great Seats,
March 28, 2008
By JClem
|
Pros: very comfortable, look fantastic, fit great in any 94-05 S-10 (including standard cab)
Cons: poorly shipped
"these seats look and feel wonderful, but be aware that they are not shipped well, they are in cardboard boxes, without much padding, so the plastic tilt knobs may be broken when they arrive. Installation is fairly easy, but remember that they are a custom job, they are not made to fit your specific vehicle. it took me about 6-7 hours to fabricate "nice" looking sliders (from my stock sliders). Overall, good find at a great price, these seats are comparable to seats that cost twice as much, if your considering buying them, look no further!!! Thanks JCW!"

Good seat for the money.,
March 1, 2008
By 39chevy

Pros: Good Price. Firm but comfortable.
Cons: Seat height is higher than anticipated. Could have better quality seat adjustment features.
"I installed these seats in my '39 Chev. Pick-up. It was a little more time consuming than I imagined, but in the end I got them in with enough room between them for my shifter; a big concern considering the narrow width of the cab. I was dissappointed in the height of the seat base and the side supports as it makes it a little difficult to get in and out of the vehicle. This may be a concern about wear on the seat edges over time. Also, without a tilt steering column, they would not have worked as there would not have been enough room between the seat and the steering wheel. I must commend JC Whitney on their fast, professional service. I had to return one of the seats because of a broken adj. knob, but they had it picked up at my house and a new one back again in a couple of days at no cost to me."

Great for the money,
February 28, 2008
By jksYJ

Pros: Price, quality
Cons: Takes a while to get used to....
"I ordered these seats to replace my YJ seats, while they don't bolt directly in, it's very easy to drill out your existing bracket to fit the new sliders. You WILL need to cut down the front of your seat brackets if you use the stockers. When I first put the seats in, I couldn't get my legs under the steering wheel. Easily fixed, shorten the front supports, and it works great. If you do it right you can still flip the seat forward. I was a little skeptical of the fit when I first tried the seat out as it was tight in the shoulders(I'm 6'3", 220). It does take a while to get used to, but the support and stability of the seat wins you over fast. If you are older or a big guy I wouldn't recommend these for a YJ, my dad doesn't like trying to get in and out over the hip support. I'd suggest the off-road seat in that case. I love these seats, and look forward to trying the off-road seats in the next project as the quality and price are unbeatable of these garage-pro seats."

87 Jeep Wrangler Restoration,
February 28, 2008

Pros: These are extremely nice seats for the $$$
Cons: Not a direct bolt in for Jeep, must Fab brackets+ Tilt
"Prior to purchasing I read the other positive reviews and measured the seats compared to OEM. I figured I would have to modify the bolt pattern on my existing mounts, no big deal. What I found when I actually did that is the following. They are too tall and to deeply scooped of a Bucket with approximately 22 degree tilt. If you install with sliders on passenger side you sit too High and like you are in the Space Shuttle ready for take of and your feet wont even reach the floor. I was going to shim the brakets to bring them closer to level but its not worth it. If you use original sliders and try to mount on Drivers side same thing only worse. If your Jeep does not have tilt steering as mine there is only about 2" of space between the seat and steering wheel. Even shimming them so they sit flatter will not work. You cant even get in the seat without climbing up and over as your leg will not fit between the seat and wheel. If you want to fab new brackets they are fine. If you want to be able to utilize your existing seat mounts with fold + tumble to rear seat entry/exit for both driver and passenger do not buy these seats. I will have to pay another $50.00 to send them back. Ouch..."

Love the seats,

Pros: Comfortable, feel strong
"Really like these seats. Fabricated brackets and put them in my 94 GMC truck. Ordering the next set for my jeep. Recccomend these to any one willing to spend a little time installing for the correct fit as any custom seat may need tilted, raised or lowered from the stock position."

Good seats, poor shipping,
December 29, 2007
By Sooner
from Fraser, MI
|
Pros: look good and comfortable
Cons: front too high
"I ordered these seats for my '82 Stang GT. They fit & look great. Although, they are a little tall at the knee area, for a Mustang. It took me approx. 4 hrs to install including fabing brackets to match bolt pattern. The only real problem I had w/the seats was the way they were shipped to my house. When they were arrived 3 out of the 4 adjusting knobs were broken, so I had to ship the entire seats back to JC Whitney & await arrival of the new ones."

Pros: Great feeling seats
Cons: Does NOT tilt forward
"Great seat for the price. I negelected to notice in the description that while they fully recline there was nothing said about them tilting forward for rear seat access. So I am paying for shipping them back to JCW. Pricey lesson to read the description carefully. Don't assume because they fully recline that they will also go forward enough to allow access to the rear. 1978 Super VW Conv"

"I have a 1990 f-150. i had a single cab with a bench seat.when i took my old one out, I didn't know where to start. when i set them in the truck they where way to low. i custom built a support system using 1/4" flatbar and coal roll steel. When i finally got done and accually mounted them in there it was unbelieveable. and as far as comfort, go ahead and buy those seats.I love them and the next truck i get will have them too."

"extremely comfortable seat. Good warnings in product description about where mounting holes are, if you have decent fabrication skills getting the seats to work is not too hard. I used my stock sliders and fabbed up some mounting brackets to adapt the seats to the stock bolt location. I plan to use the seat as an off road seat in my Jeep and at this price I can replace the entire seat for less than good neoprene covers."

Great Seats but not for a Tall Driver!,
February 7, 2007
By FJ40
from Silver Spring, MD
|
"I bought a pair of these seats in black and am very impressed with the quality. I only wish my 6' 1" body fit the seat well. The upper bolsters hit my shoulders making the seat very uncomfortable. My wife who is 5' 3" found the seat to be a perfect fit and very comfortable. They have serious lower back support. These seats are great but not for a tall person. I have since ordered a pair of the Garage Pro Off-Road seats and am awaiting their arrival.
Also, It is listed nowhere in the specs but the base of these seats measure 21" at the widest part of the seat base. Which just so happens to be the width of a stock FJ40 Land Cruiser seat which I am replacing."
