1987 Corvette w/ ABS Hood Scoop
Pros: The light weight and construction is very good. Easily to just stick on. Cons: The double sided tape is not easily worked with unless you use a lot of patience.
"Being the proud owner of a Corvette at first I had apprehensions of this fitting the shape of the hood after reading the other reviews. Of course the shape of my hood is raised in the middle with the lines of a "cowl induction" that I thought may be a royal pain. I recommend painting the scoop before applying to the hood itself. Or just take it as it is out of the box. It looks quite nice even this way. Providing you get one without any minor flaws. I received one in very good shape and required no painting. But being nit-picky I did anyway. In black as it accents the red metallic paint and my black rear spoiler and other black accents on the car. I did ask a few people for their comments on how it would look to others before the final installation. I recommend this highly. It may look good to yourself but to others, and yes other people opinions are important, it may not. Don't want people laughing at you. Especially in a car that you love, as I do my Corvette. My biggest recommendation is to show lots of patience and take your time in applying the scoop. I find that if you carefully position the scoop on the hood, check to insure that you have wiperblade clearance if you are in a position that is as close to the windshield end of the hood as I am. Then using some masking tape completely follow the outline of the scoop to lay your position. Then use the alcohol wipes to clean any wax you have on the hood just inside the masking tape were the double sided tape will adhere to. I also found that by just laying the scoop gently on the hood and then insuring that you are lined up as you masked it off and follow the lines you laid down. Then begin at one edge and then the other edge and slowly press down as you move towards the front of the scoop towards the front bumper you get smoothness and a tight fit that is centered on the hood as perfectly as possible. I am quite pleased at how it looks and have received some very nice comments. Of course I will actually use fiberglass body filler and smooth it into the hood as if factory made. The rear opening will actually become functional with a little more work."

"Not wanting to buy a $500 scoop hood , thought i would try this stick on one for my 83 chev 1/2 ton swb pu. 1st problem is, probly on all 81-89 pu's there is a ridge in the middle of the hood, so it willNOT sit flat unless you notch something. 2nd problem after me and several others checking it out sitting on the hood , it just did not look right. The good news is my wife has a 88 chev/toyota Nova, white in color.Set it on the hood looked great, centered it right behind the window washer nozzles stuck her on.Conclusion ,my opinion this scoop woul look best on a smaller car/truck.Also if your truck is lifted it may go unnoticed."

"this hood scoop is pretty sweet looking and the apearence of it is well not the best, well it looks good but if your hood is kind of a poor looking one it is the worst thing to have on an old hood. yeah it is simple to install but you better have it perfectly lined up how you want it the first time because it is a pain to take it off again. the construction of it is well designed. i think it is sturdy and sleek. i just want to say one of the hardest thing to put it on would have been my 87 ford ranger"
