"This bumper was a Christmas gift for my sons 1994 Jeep Wrangler. He wanted that custom look along with a 2" receiver for a hitch which his Jeep didn't have. The day after Christmas we installed it ourselves and everything fit perfectly with all factory mounting holes matching up perfectly. A great bumper at a very good price."

Looks Great. Not for Towing!,
November 21, 2008
By JCT3from Metairie, LA
Pros: Great Looks Cons: The receiver is useless unless modified
"I installed this on my Jeep along with the front matching bumper and pipe steps. Big impprovement in looks! However, when I put a bike rack into the hitch receiver the bumper immediatly tilted down. I plan on removing the bumper and having the mounting brackets welded directly to the bumper to solve this problem, then remounting the entire assembly as a single unit. Also, the safty chain holes are too close to the receiver pin. That too will have to be modified so that you can use safety chains when towing."

Pros: Looks good and has attached 2" hitch. Cons: Installation is tuff and hitch pin is to close to plate.
"The removal of the old bumper off my 98 Wrangler was tuff, but doable. The problem I had with the installation was that the "small" picture in the directions show the mounting brackets one way and the directions tell you to mount them another way. Drilling the four holes for the mounting brackets was not too bad, but be careful of the gas tank The other problem is bolting on the four inside bolts of the mounting bracket to the jeep. It is a very tight fit and you need the right tools. After that the bumper goes on easy enough. The only other problem is that the hole for the hitch pin is too close to the plate where you hook the safety chains on. I am unable to use a locking hitch pin and I had to modify the clip to fit the pin that I bought. It needs to be moved back about an inch. After it was all done, I am happy to say that it looks good (i bought the matching front bumper as well) and I am happy with the end results."

Pros: Looks good, fits perfect Cons: Hitch pin hole too close to chain holes
"This bumper was a little harder to install, but mostly because I had a few rusty bolts. It fits the factory holes perfectly on my 87 Wrangler YJ, but it is rather difficult to get behind the bumper to attach the bolts becuase of the gas tank. My biggest grievance is the the hole for the hitch pin is to close to where you hook the chains for towing. Because of this, I can't use a locking hitch pin. This concerns me that some thief can simply remove a pin and take my cargo hauler out of the receiver. The hole simply needs to be moved about a 1/2 inch to make it perfect."

"The bumper was not very easy to install. If you have a 1997 or newer Jeep Wrangler you will have to drill holes. It takes very skinny fingers to install the screws in your drilled holes."

"The rear bumper is difficult to install on a CJ7, the instructions are not great. Be ready to drill! My package was missing 2 of the 4 mounting bolts and their hard-ware."

"Install on my 2003 Wrangler X wasn't as easy as I would have hoped. The back bumper bracket required drilling holes that were very close to the gas tank. I just stuck a scrap piece of angle iron in the space between where the drill was to exit and the gas tank to avoid any drilling mishaps. I had to get my son (long thin fingers) to help attach the washers and nuts because I couldn't get my hands into the tight space on the left side. The front was a breeze. My 75 year old father helped me knock that out in about 15 minutes. The rear bumber's receiver hitch might look light-weight, but I've already towed 2 250 cc four-wheelers on a 13 x 5 steel trailer to our hunting camp and back. That's about 1,500 pounds, so it's tougher than it looks! These black bumbers look great on my red and black Wrangler. I already had some Smitty tube steps, and these match perfectly. These are a real bargain."

"OK. The good news is that the front and rear tube bumpers look excellent when you get them on and I mean excellent. Also, the front bumper goes on without too much trouble. Bad news is that if your jeep is 97-05, drilling IS required for the rear bumper. Not only that, the way the bumper brackets are designed, you have to remove the gas tank to get on all the bolts. The instructions are not very clear and contain NO diagrams. This is not an easy installation and I HIGHLY suggest getting it done professionally like I did."

"Looks tough, and dresses up the rear much better than the stock look, Great Price. Bolts didn't allign up exactly, but workable. Not sure if I would tow anything with the hitch, It will accept a bike rack or similar nicely. Wouldn't purposely hit anything big. space around the tire is a nice feature."
