"I installed these is aprox. 11/2 hr. only draw back was instructions on bracket that go to undercarriage, they way I installed they lined up but brackets need to be better marked I still my have on incorrectly. when bracket mounted does the reinforcment arm on bracket face to outside toward wheels or to the inside they will line up both ways and a few lock washers missing according to instruction sheet if possible give me feed back if I have on incorrectly I will change them. Picture in catalog showed different mounting style no bracket showing where rail sat on I was under the impresson no backet would be seen"

"No bolts in the box, and the wrong size in the instructions. After a trip to the hardware store and $5.95 in additional parts the installation went fairly smoothly. A little awkward wrestling them in place."

"They fit perfect on my '82 jeep CJ 7. I did need C-clamps to hold them in place while I marked the holes, but the drill made short work of the self tapping screws.
The jeep looks great and they are stronge as heck the whole family stood on one and there was no movement."

"It was difficult to drill the holes and have them line up properly. Once the self taping screws were started they took a lot of strength to tighten down. The end flanges were not perfectly flat so they ended up with small spaces on some of the corners. They do seem to be sturdy enough. They were installed on a 1978 Jeep CJ5."

"These were very easy to install, and look great on my 87 Wrangler YJ. All brackets line uo perfectly to the body mounts, and they really look sharp with the front and rear bumpers i Purchased. My only complaint is they don't mount directly to the frame like my pold ones did. Because of this, they have a little give when you step on them. I am not small, so I usually don't use them anyway. Install time was 30 minutes, and could have been a little quicker if I had some help."

Pros: Wasn't difficult to install for me a non-mechanic type of guy. Cons: Wish they came in a Black Matt Finsih also. I though they would be.
"I have a 1994 Jeep Wrangler with a 2.5 lift. Installion of these bar were easy from start to finish it took me an hour and it took me this long due to the fact that I took the extra time to wire brush and clean the bolts from my Jeep and WD40 them. Very pleased with the new look that my Jeep has now. These Bar are not really ment for people the want to do any heavy duty rock crawling. Their more of a medium type nerf bars maybe just to help people in and out of the vehicle. I know my wife will like getting into my Jeep better."

"Purchased these to go on a 2007 Wrangler X 2dr. Followed the instructions and when going to mount the bars, no alignment for the holes. Turns out that the instructions had incorrectly stated the one that should go on the front right as being on the front left and vice versa. Once I figured that out they went on with a few alignment problems of the mounts. The ones for the 2007 Wrangler do NOT mount to the frame, but to the tub of the vehicle. Would I purchase them again... probably considering the price, but these are only for about 1 year worth of use till I get some scratch saved up for better."

"Just added these to my 1992 YJ. Like everyone else mentioned, the instructions were a little vague, but one can easily figure it out. Very easy to install, only problem was getting the bolts off the jeep frame (15 years never removed tends to make it a little tougher). The quality of the step rails are nice for the price. I , as well, am not sure how they will do with prolonged use since they are only bolted to the frame. But overall, very satisified with my purchase.
PS- best thing was I got my order in one day. I must live very close to the distribution center. Shipping was A+++."

"Overall this is a good product for the money...considering the price of others. I ordered the black bars which I was under the impression were powder coated. Let's see where did I get that idea...oh, possible the product description. "Made to lastchoose polished stainless steel or black powder-coated steel" The black 'powder coat' appears to be meerly smooth, glossy black paint. I'm sure JCW probably specified powder coating to their Chinese supplier, but for those of us with experience in Chinese manufacturing know...what you request isn't always what you get. I haven't installed them yet because I was hoping to use the step as a step and not just a cosmetic item and I may need to reinforce them. The brackets are pretty beefy and are welded with some fairly sorry looking 'bird-dropping' welds. I'm not too keen on the bolt holding the step to the bracket. It's just a nut welded to a piece of steel. That steel is welded top and bottom to the thin (19 gauge steel?) tube of the step. These little welds on that thin tube steel on each side of the step are what supports everything."
