Easy install,
December 29, 2008
By FabDawgfrom San Diego, CA
Pros: Product meets all claims by the manufacturer, simple install, everything needed is included, easy to install and Cons: none
"Installed on my 1995 F-250 extended cab in about 1 1/2 hours. After the first use, 1.45 tons of rock, I wished I had bought them years ago. When using my flatbed trailer it is so easy to adjust for any load, I cant believe how well they perform."

Pros: Very rugged, easy to use, extremely versatile Cons: not as easy to install as stated, but not that hard, push-in air tubes can be difficult to get in after install
"I bought these air springs for my Chevy 2500HD to give it some assistance carrying my new fifth wheel. They work excellent, and balance out any heavy load. The install time that is given would be accurate for a full garage with a lift, for an average Joe crawling around his driveway under his truck the install is still OK it just takes longer."

Pros: easy to adjust Cons: none
"Installed this on a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4, along with the single gauge AIR-LIFT® ON-BOARD AIR COMPRESSOR SYSTEM. This install would have been a little more easy if my truck wasn't already loaded. So if possible make sure your truck is unloaded! I gave the installation 3 stars because I dont see the average guy installing this in 2 hours or less like they say. Also, I'm not sure why anyone would need the two quage air control if they use proper loading techniques. Overall this product is absolutely awsome! No matter what trouble you run into on the install it will be worth it in the end. I am using my truck to carry a 100 gal. fuel transfer tank, along with other tools. I can hardly tell they are back there now. I honestly think my overall ride improved dramatically. Best of all if I'm empty, I can just let the air pressure out with the touch of a button or air them up the same way when loaded to meet my needs. I've also had comments from friends and family that my truck sets up better. Very satisfied, no doubt."

Pros: well made Cons: instructions a little lacking
"It took me about 3.5 hours to install in my garage. The only thing I thought was lacking was the directions. You would think a critical as it is when connecting air lines they would have supplied a diagram of the airline/airbag connection. Other than that, good well made product."

Pros: good strong parts easy to install if you have tools
"i have a f350 service truck that was hanging low from the back and i had the shocks replaced about a year ago but still did't look straight. after i install the air lift and pumped air into i saw the back of the truck raise to a level that i have never seen before then i test drove it it feels so great to have a smooth ride and not have to feel in your back every little bump on the road great investment strongly recomend it ."

Pros: Heavy Duty Construction Cons: none yet
"Bought this 5000 Kit for $219.00 to install on my 1994 Ford F-150 in order to lift to correct hight when my slide in camper is on board, I found the instructions were simple to follow and installation took 2hours and 35 minutes, would of gone faster if I had power tools. Definitely a good investment! KUDOS To J.C. Whitney for carrying this product. I mailed in a money order and had it eight days later."

Pros: all parts fit very good Cons: not enough space under pickup bed for 1/2-ton model; need add'l 1/2-inch clearance for air hose
"The 5000 model works well with even the 1/2-ton model except for bed clearance. The pickup rib over the bed was exactly where the airhose connection needed clearance, so I had to drill a 1-inch hole on the rib and allow the hose to have enough space. Need to be aware of that because the 1987-earlier models might have a similar issue."

Pros: Quality Construction Cons: none
"I've bolted a lot of stuff together in my time, some good, most in need of more thought. This product is excellent! The quality of construction, the fit and detailed instructions are very good. I found that having a well equipped shop helped but not necessary. Very well engineered. Keep in mind that this is a suspension product and as such the parts are pretty stout. Two thumbs up!!"

Pros: Installed easily, took a bit of time but fit was good Cons: Mounting to the springs not the axel
"I had firestone ride rite air bags on my 2004 f150 and what a difference it made in the ability to level the vehicle under load. When I got the diesel the rear springs weren't what they should be so I got the air lift air springs and they are also very nice. The ride rite package was made specific for the truck and had was a no drill install. The bag also rested beside the springs and put direct force on the axle. These are a bit more generic, but do the job. Did have to drill the frame, but no biggie. The ride is smoother, and when a trailer is attached I can lift the truck to its normal ride height. I keep 15 lbs,. unloaded and between 50 to 60 lbs. when hauling. It defenitly helps with drive angles and steering when you are at the recommended height. A very nice product. Thanks."

Pros: Heavy Duty Construction Cons: hard to put in
"I bought these for our F250 since we pull a 35' 5th wheel Jayco trailer. You can feel the difference up hills and driving 65 on the freeway - no more having semi's "push" you all over. The only down side is install and you can't fault the product much - it's hard to put on because they are heavy duty and you wouldn't want something that would be flimsy. If you own an aircompressor and drill press you could cut the time in half (borrow or rent if necessary). Despite the 6 hour install - worth every penny for the safety/smoothness of the ride."

Pros: Ride was good but much smoother now (took the "edge" off small bumps. Easy to adjust for heavy loads. Cons: Should have done it sooner!
"Installed on a 2003 Silverado 3500 Duramax Dually 4x4. Capacity of truck was great before; awesome now! The bags improved the "empty" ride by taking the edge off the stiff springs. I procrastinated but wish I'd added them earlier! Handling with 5000# slide in camper or 13,000# 5th wheel is a pleasure! Good product, relatively easy to install, and fit like a glove. Instructions were clear and only drilling was for mounting the air valve stem. I would recommend them for any SUV or truck, especially if you often carry a load!"

"I retrofitted a '99 GM kit to the rear of a '73 Jeep pickup; hence the low rating on "ease of use/install." I chose this part # because of the potential for adjustment to my needs. After I modified every piece except the bags themselves, the kit worked just as I had hoped. So "ease of....... " was of my doing, not JC Whitney nor Air Lift. Go for it!"

"this product was so easy to install, I did it by myself in 2 hours. I feel such a difference when i pull my trailer. I would deffinatly put them on any truck that i use to pull. I have a 1996 f-250 power stroke, and it feels so much more stable when hauling. It did improve the ride when it is empy also."

"I wasn't sure I needed the extra capacity towing my 5th wheel. Man oh man, not only can I level my truck & camper, this system has improved the overall ride of my 1996 F-250 4X4 Power Stroke. I run 25lbs. in each bag while empty, 62lbs when pulling the 5th wheel. You can put up to 100lbs. in each bag if needed. I am amazed at the improved ride quality while empty and should of installed these back when I bought the truck new. This is something that should come standard on Super Duty trucks - they make that much of a difference. I forget sometimes that my 40 foot long toy hauler is behind me now. Whether you tow or not, these are a major improvement for your vehicle. Super warranty service also. With the Super Duty Brand you will talk to the owner of the company with any concerns. Thats something you don't find with most products!"
