Looks Good, But what a pain to install!!!,
February 22, 2009
By zoomfrom Bham, Al
Pros: Looks good on the truck. Cons: Installing it!!!
"I had bought one for my 89 Bronco and installed it in less than an hour. Looked great. So I bought one for my 05 F150. Arrived in short time, packaged very well in a big box. Let it sit in the garage for two month before having time to play with it. My brother and I started at ten in the morning and did not finish til after five that afternoon. Given we're not rocket-scientist, but we know our way around a car. The instruction are of no help. Wording is incoherent and the pictures are unrecognizable. Got it mounted to frame. Still don't know where the braces go. This is not an easy installation. Pay someone to do it for you if you can. It looks great on the truck."

Good once on,
January 14, 2009
By brkrmanfrom Corpus Christi, TX
Pros: Well made, Looks good Cons: Instructions
"This graill looks good once you get it put togeather. Didn't take too long but the instructions really don't tell you anything. Better be able to figure things out for yourself as the step by step is almost non-existant and the picture shown is impossible to figure out. But once you do, it is easy to install and looks real good."

Very Pleased!,
November 27, 2008
By SoCalCJfrom SoCal
Pros: Easy to install - clean fit Cons: mediocre instructions
"My 15 year old son and I had this installed in about 40 minutes on my 2006 dodge ram 1500 megacab. The hardest part was removing/replaceing the factory tow hooks (big hands..small space..bloody knuckles). A piece of cake from there! This mounts directly to the tow hook location and does not drop beneath the air dam like other models may. The tow hooks are placed back on in front of the mounting brackets, so no function is lost. The whole thing matched the lines of the truck perfectly!!! Zero regrets on this one!!!"

By N8MNIfrom Central Ohio
Pros: Nice Sturdy well built bar. Looks great Cons: Directions say right and left from driver's seat, but found it to be right and left from the front of the Tahoe.
"I really like the looks of this grille guard on my 2005 Tahoe. I have also been told how great it looks by a local accessory retailer/installer."

Pros: Looks great on my 2007 FJ Cruiser! Cons: Poor & incomplete instructions, poor picture quality, inconsistant sizing of nuts and bolts
"In the end we were pleased and it looks awesome on my FJ Cruiser. However the Install was a pain and it took us 6 hours. Sets of nuts and bolts were not all the same size. Some metric, some not. Only had instructions for the main piece of the grill. The alen wrench provided was a joke. Too small to tighten top bar. One pre-drilled hole on bottom bracket did not line up. Filed down paint and was able to make it work. Packaged well, no complaints on shipping, design and look!"

Pros: Excellent construction and appearance can't be beat also great price for this part! Cons: Directions leave some to be desired
"I put this on my 2000 Chevy K1500 P/u. I was already prepared as I read previous reviews about the directions. I would have to agree to the directions leave alot to be desired! Otherwise the product was shipped and very well packaged! Very quality product, I don't think you can get this nice of a guard for any cheaper that I paid. I would definetly advise anyone to purchase this exact product, just be carefull with the instructions be prepared they are not to helpfull. But with a little common sence it was easy to install and good quality product! Definetly would buy this again!"

Pros: Nice looking-Well built Cons: Instrustions are TERRIBLE
"The Grill guard was fantastic in looks and build. I ordered one for my 05 Expedition King Ranch and one for my 05 F-150 FX4.My F150 went well but my expedition not so good. The directions said use the existing factory bolts, there were none. The pictures were NO HELP. I called customer service and was told to take it to a garage and let them tell me where the top bar support went. So I took it to an off road center and they had no idea about the support or directions. We drilled a hole and made it fit..Looks good my wife is happy, thats all I needed"

Pros: Looks great, inexpensive, Cons: Hard to follow instructions
"Everyone else is mentioning the "not mentioned brackets" and having to modify the brackets. Well, I had the same problem and got on the phone with JC Whitney. I said they sent the wrong accessory pack, they said that the people who make this "Do not make mistakes". Well, I said then they made a big one by saying this thing fits an '04 TITAN 4x4. So, I sent the whole thing back and had them send me a new one. The new one had an additional page to the installation instructions that tells you what those "unmentioned brackets" are for. Yes, upper support brakcets to be mounted on the top of the bumper behind the front grille. The lower brackets in the original pack did not fit my truck at all. I would have had to cut the brackets or enlarge the holes. That was why I sent it back. I believe there are two different versions of this model for the Nissan TITAN out there; one that does fit and one that doesn't. If you get the wrong one: SEND IT BACK and get it a new one sent out free of charge. There is also the 1/4 inch spacer for the lower brackets and I don't think they are needed. Everything lined up fine without them, but I used them anyway."

"I just installed this on my 2006 Nissan Titan, It looks great and realy sets off the truck. The instructions were not helpfull at all. The brackets had to be modified and the holes made bigger but after the brackets were on everything lined up, went on pretty easy. I would recomend that the grill be removed first and the two brackets NOT mentioned be installed first !! Oh and be sure not to tighten the main bolts till the wrap around guard is ready to put on Except for the two brackets NOT metioned Tighten them up all the way, this centers everything up. Other than that, This is a great add on to your truck."

"I installed this product on my 06 Titan. It's only a 4x2, but I needed front end protection. Price was definitely an issue, so when I saw this grille guard I jumped on it. It looks great and really complements the truck. Installation, however, was another story. Although it was moderately easy to install, it took some time. The included instructions were VERY vague and had no helpful graphics. Pics or illustrations of the parts used, mainly all the nuts and bolts, would have been EXTREMELY helpful. The center guard mounted to my tow hook area, and the brush guards were fairly easy to install. However, there were two unused/unmentioned brackets left over, with a couple of nuts and washers. After playing around with it, I came to the conclusion that those brackets were for the upper part of the guard to mount somewhere to the bumper. Nowhere in the instructions was it mentioned. I had to purchase seperate nuts and bolts and remove the grille shell to get to the small holes in the bumper to finally secure the grille guard. But in the end it looks great and especially for the price!"

"Installed on a 2002 chevy silverado ext. cab 4x4
the grill gaurd is built well with some good weight to it so you know it's not cheep steel. Installation on stock trucks is a snap, however if your truck has any kind of body lift, (suspension lifts dont matter because the guard mount to the frame) you need to weld extension brackets for as much as your body lift is, and drill holes in the bracket for proper alignment with grill guard mounting brackets. You will need access to a cutting torch and welder"

"I got this grille guard because the price is good and it is what I was looking for. I put it on a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. It was a pretty easy install even for one perosn to do with the help of a jack. MAKE SURE YOU USE THE RIGHT MOUNTING BRACKETS. The kit includes the brackets for the 1500 and the 2500/3500 brackets. Both will mount up to either vehicle, but the straight one will only work on the 1500, and the offset on will only fit the grille guard on 2500, so for faster install use the right one. The grille guard just requires you to unbolt some of the factory bumper mounts and add the mounting plates. The one bad part of this whole kit is that the mounting arms hang below the plastic trim under the metal bumper. If your truck is not lifted, this will make your ground clearence in the front of the truck around 3''. Normally, this is not a problem, but if you have to go up or down a steep incline onto flat road your front end will bottom out where the mounting arms for the grille guard go under the bumper. This is really just a good excuse to lift you truck. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a good grille guard for a great price."
