"Put these in in less than a hour even with having to drill 2 holes. Basic hands tools and maybe a drill are all you need. Look great and are sturdy."

"This product is perfect for 2009 chevy 5.5 ft bed. I was able to install them by myself in about 3o minutes. You will use the factory bolts from the truck for the mounting brackets. You will need the 1/2 inch socket for the supplied bolts, and a 21mm socket for the factory bolts."

Pros: With in an hour I had them installed and they look great

"looled a long time and then found this pair of step rails. I could not belive how easy it was to install them. It took me less than an hour to put them on my 1995 C1500 Pick up, and they look great also. I'm 65 and ordered from J C Whitney a lot on the years and have always been happy with the products."

Cons: Some hardware missing/wrong; instructions are so-so.

"I bought these side bars for my 2008 GMC Sierra crew cab and they look excellent once installed ! I hadn't turned a wrench in about a dozen years but these were relatively easy to install once I figured out the orientation of the pictures in the instructions. Just so happens my neighbor has a similar truck with the same bars, so I used his mounting as an example. I had to invest $20 in a cheepo 1/2" drive socket set and a 21mm socket to take my cab mount bolts off, but once I figured that out the rest of the install was a breeze. I did it solo and mounted the center bolt first while using a couple of milkcrates to support the bars. Definitley appreciated previous tips to NOT tighten anything completely until all brackets and the bars were mounted. They look great and my kids don't need a running start to jump into the truck now. One problem; the replacemnet cab bolts supplied with the bars were the wrong thread size; I used the original bolts that came with the truck; washers supplied were also wrong size."

Need Speacial Tool for Dodge Durango, December 21, 2008

Cons: Need a Threadsetter to install, even on custom fit

"I looked at what was out there, and these definately were a bargain, even with the shipping surcharge. I haven't read in other reviews about needing this tool to install. I'm assuming other makes and models don't need it if guys are installing these in 15 minutes. I sell tools for a living and didn't have a threadsetter that will do 3/8". If you have a hole where the bracket mounts that goes into a cavity where you can't get to the other side for the nut, you will need this tool. Once I had it unpacked and figured out, it took about an 1-1/2 hours to install. They look great and are very functional."

"I read the reviews before purchasing these for my 2007 Dodge Quadcab. I am very pleased with the purchase - I don't think you'll find a better value anywhere else. Installation was easy once my brother and I figured out how to attach the braces. The advice about waiting to tighten until everything was basically in place was a big help. If you want a product that will really make your truck stand out, this is it."

"Overall I am happy with my purchase. The install was not as hard as some of the other reviews had mentioned, and the hardware bolted to my truck with no prblems(2004 F-150 Super Cab). I am however a little dissappionted with the way they look! At the front of the truck, the nerf bar extends out a little further than at the rear. It's not too much of a difference, probably not noticeable to the average person, and to my recent knowledge the way they are made, but it would have been a factor in purchasing these, to me.(But I intend on keeping them on my truck!)"

Cons: Instructions could have been better, but had no problem using them

"From start to finish, I had both sides installed on my 2008 Tundra in about an hour. The only tools I used were a 3/8 drive ratchet and two sockets. Fit together nicely and really look sharp on the truck. One key, is do not tighten any bolts until you have them all started. With that secret, I had no alignment issues and it all came together easily. I was also very happy with the shipping process. I received a tracking number and the bars were delivered on the day specified."

"I Got The 3" side bars for my Chevy and they look and work great. I had them installed on my truck in 15 min and the directions were easy clear to read. They may not have showed both sides but my fiance (who isnt verry mechanicly inclined) figured them out in a matter of minuets. The worst part of the install was that I did it in the grass and it made my back itch other than that it was so easy my 5 year old nephew could have done it just as easy"

Pros: Didn't take long at all to install. Look great. Sturdy.
Cons: I had to redrill the hanging brackets to fit my truck, one side on each bracket lined up, the other was off about 5/8 in

It did not take long at all to install and with minimal tools. If I had not had to redrill, would have taken about 45 minutes in all, instead it took and extra 30 minutes. They look great, and work great. Thanks!"

Cons: Trouble getting them straight, they tilt out a little. Should bolt to frame instead.

"I think these nerf bars are GREAT for the price. They have held up well so far and were not that hard to put on at all. Instructions are a bit vague but with a little know how and common sense they go right on. They do appear to tilt out a little though and i would prefer they bolted to the frame itself."
