MEDIUM TRUNK CCF277020,

Pros: Price and looks good
Cons: Hard to open/close and install/remove
"Nice looking unit. It was fairly easy to install the baseplate on my '06 Triumph Scrambler with the solo seat and small integrated luggage rack. The little luggage rack is useless thats why I installed the trunk. That being said, Once the baseplate was installed, I found it was extremly difficult to install the trunk on the baseplate. I really had to pound on the case to get it to latch down. I also had to fumble with the keys and the latching mechanism for the lid to get it to close or open. I lso dont know why they couldn't offer a light kit. That red reflector would work much better as a light. Oh, and they don't tell you it has a silly maltese cross insert on the top. How '70's is that? I suppose its worth the money if it lasts a few seasons. I just hope it doesn't fall off."

Excellent price and quality,

Pros: Durable, big and easy to use
Cons: Feels cheap compared to more expensive units
"I took the large black matte unit to my last trip to Alaska, 11K miles in 13 days, over rough terrain, with about 40 to 50 lbs of gear in it and it survived. I was very pleased, since it is so cheap I wa afraid it was not going to make it. I used it as a top box, not I am ordering another one and will try it as a side case, I will rate it later as my next trip will be to California from Wisconsin. The only bad thing was one of the pis in the hinge wanted to come out but I put a dab of JB weld on both sides and that fix the problem."

Pros: Cheap
Cons: Cheap! Lasted 2K Miles
"Don't confuse low price with a good value here. I had this on two V Twin bikes, and only one long trip of 300 miles. Bracket is junk, case not much better. Bottom of the box broke at both mounting pins. Give this a miss."

Size misrepressentation,
July 24, 2009
By NotsoGood

Pros: Price
Cons: Size...Fail / Volume...Fail
"I purchased the medium. I read the reviews prior to purchasing. I did my best to search around and find the usable interior dimensions. I found nothing. The picture seems to indicate that you can fit a single helmet inside. I tried two different helmets (men's medium & men's large). No matter how I tried placing the helmet in the trunk - the lid would not close. The depth of the trunk is between 3/4" and a full inch too shallow.
Someone indicated that they can easily fit a lap top in this thing. I hope they're talking about the large because it's not happening inside the medium. The usable footprint at the base of the trunk is approximately 13 1/2"w x 9 1/2"d clear. This tapers outward as you rise up from the bottom reaching a dimension of about 15 3/4"w x 11 1/4"d clear. The outer most maximum dimensions at the perimeter are approximately 17 1/2"w x 15"d.
So...do not expect a helmet to fit and be very aware of the interior area limitations. I hope this is helpful."

3500 miles,

Pros: Great buy for a dependable trunk
Cons: None yet
"I purchased this trunk to carry the motorcycle cover when parked at work in the hot sun and have used it for over a year. A few weeks ago we hit the road for 2 weeks and 3500 miles from New Mexico to Montana and back. I pushed the trunk to the limit and sometimes pushed down the lid locking the contents to keep everything from exploding out.It went through rain, wrong roads, rough roads and did not leak or fail.I would not hesitate to purchase it again."

Good solid trunk,
July 8, 2009
By gwwe

Pros: sturdy, locks well, holds my laptop, mounting bracket is very useful
Cons: the little red button to take it off your bike sticks, gotta pull it out to lock correctly
"I wouldn't say its the best constructed trunk for a motorcycle ever, but its very solid (people i read said it was flimsey or thin, its none of those things.. fairly thick plastic and strong construction it doesn't bend or anything like that.) easy to close and has a little string thing that keeps it open at a 90 degree angle so it doesn't flop backwards. Pretty much exactly what i wanted a cheap durable trunk that's easy to mount where-ever you want to mount it. The handle to carry it is nice and its plenty of space for me to pack everything I need for a month or so trip - though I pack light."

Pros: Easy to put on and take off
Cons: Can not find a top rack to fit it
"I received my new trunk in time for a weekend trip. It was very easy to install and worked great on the trip. It looks good on my V-star and will hold all you need for a weekend run. Reat nice to be able to unlock it and take into the hotel with you."

Not a bad deal!,
June 5, 2009
By tizmyn

Pros: Relatively easy installation, lots of room
Cons: hinges are low quality and interior gets very hot on sunny days
"For the price it is a very good deal. Fairly easy to install. You need metric wrenches. The case itself is lower quality than I would have preferred but as I previously stated.. it is not hard on the pocketbook. If you have a siisy bar it has to be removeable and the pad on the case where your passenger would rest is not comfortable at all. The overall design of the unit is pretty cool as you can remove it and carry like a suitcase if need be. If you live in a area that has hot weather, this is not for you as it does not vent and does get quite hot inside."

Excellent Top Box,
March 14, 2009
By Darb

|
Pros: Looks nice on a Harley Rocker luggage rack. Medium size does not offset the rear profile of the bike. Big enough.
Cons: Mounting bracket is very poor fit. Took a while to mount and still not perfect. Bends easily.
"I installed this box on a 08 Harley Rocker. Finding the right fit for the luggage rack was difficult. After two hours of trying, I finally mounted the box. The bolts did not quite fit well vertically, and the brackets bent very easily. I used that weakness to follow the contour of the underside of the luggage rack. The box itself is good enough. One must handle it with care though, because the lock is a little bit flimsy and the box is rather thin. Other than that, it does the job well for the money. It looks great as well. Many people complained about the cross, but I like it. I decided to keep it."

Great Box,

Pros: Great price , very room
Cons: STUPID IRON CROSS !! !! ! ! !!
"Great low price alternative to a givi box. This rack went right on to my givi rack , all i had to do is shave about 1/8" of plastic off of the lower mount on the box. But why does it have to have that stupid iron cross ? ? Because I ride a motorcycle does that mean that i have to be into Leather , tassles , iron crosses and bandanas ? ? I covered it up with a reflector."

Pros: Large capacity, easy universal mounting, easy to remove and take with you instead of having to empty trunk. Good Price
Cons: I have None
"Trunk holds everything I purchased it for with room left over. It secures my belongings when stoping to shop. I believe it protects what I carry in it as well as any other trunk I could have purchased. I loved the price compared to all the others I reviewed on the internet.
If you are looking for secure storage on your cycle of scooter this is a great buy. If you are looking for style and money is no object continue shopping."

Well built & good value,
February 12, 2009
By StAl

Pros: Well constructed and excellent value for the money.
Cons: Ugly "iron cross" on top of trunk.
"I have not been able to install my trunk yet because there is about 4 feet of snow in front of the storage shed but the installation process seems straight forward. The trunk is well built and appears to be a good value for the money.
My only negative comment is regarding the ugly "iron cross" attached to the top lid of the trunk. I removed it immediately. It should be replaced by either a decal, a reflector or heaven-forbid even a company logo."

Great trunk, low price, but be warned...,
January 13, 2009
By stealth
from Dallas, TX

Pros: cheap as heck, roomy, same baseplate as the Givi
Cons: can rattle itself until breakage
"This is a fantastic trunk for the price. I bought two of them 13 months ago, and would do it again in a heartbeat. If you get one on sale, it's the bargain of the year. Roomy to no limit, I can fit a full face helmet inside with room to spare into the larger 40 liter boxes I bought.
That being said, there is a serious design flaw with this trunk that you need to address. The baseplate does not hold the trunk tightly enough to itself. This allows for a little bit of a rattle as the whole trunk moves. In itself, this is no big deal, but you shouldn't let it stay that way. The vibrations can rattle the trunk apart at the mount points and destroy the trunk. Get a few stick on rubber bumpers from the hardware store and put them onto the bottom of the trunk. Rubber bumpers will secure the mount points and kill any vibration you may encounter.
It may also be of notice that I offroad my dual purpose bike, and that I own a single cylinder motor. Both of these factors add to the vibration, but I would still recommend the rubber bumper trunk mod, and I highly recommend this JC Whitney trunk. Awesome deal.
One more note - the maltese cross is a decal. It comes off easily and leaves no residue. The reflector is held on by a small fastener which can also be removed at your preference.
Enjoy your trunk!"

Great addition to a Buddy 125,
January 8, 2009
By Perkussion
|
Pros: Solid build. Looks like it would take quite a bounce
Cons: Orange strip of plastic trim. Surfer's cross
"This is a good trunk. Very solid for the price. I would compare this to trunks that cost 2x. Installed easily. On a Buddy 125 you need the Genuine optional metal rear rack to install this trunk.
Double-walled base will probably make this trunk last for a long, long time.
I bought the medium (to keep in scale with the Buddy 125) and I screwed in Velcro straps to hold 2-11" fuel bottles (they fit inside standing up!) It's just great to have a sizable trunk that you can easily open and throw stuff in.
I painted the emblem & orange trim silver (the trim has 3 screws and the emblem peels off & can be stuck back on) -it was easy and looks great!
It really does hold a lot of stuff. Buy it. I'd be surprised if you didn't like it!"

Pros: Good product; great price
Cons: Don't like the Iron Cross symbol on top
"I've ridden about 1000 mi with the box now. My essentials don't fill it. It has worked great. Looks good too.
I might even use them for panniers too, but the latch is too weak. I'd have to provide more support there somehow.
I am very satisfied with the product."

Pros: Big. Well constructed. Fits everything I need for work.
Cons: cheezy logos and reflectors
"I love it. I had to remove the backrest portion as I already have an integrated backrest. I put on a Vulcan logo on the rear reflector. It has plenty of space. It can hold all of my 18lbs. of Photo equipment except the tripod."

CAN'T BEAT IT FOR THE MONEY,
November 20, 2008
By B2Drity
|
Pros: Cost!
Cons: An adjustable inner strap would be cool.
"I installed the large trunk on a DR650 within 15 minutes. I commute to work rain or shine and it's perfect to carry my uniforms(Wrinkle Free), lunch, tools, and a bottle of liquor on the way home. It holds up well in the rain, fits my helmet, jacket etc. I dont recommend going off road without putting a bunjee cord to keep it from vibrating around. Ask yourself this; What are you going to use it for? Why spend 3 times as much for other brands when YOU CAN'T BEAT IT FOR THE MONEY!"

Pros: Fits great on my Kymco People S200. so far is water resistant, been in the rain a couple of times.
Cons: None that I have found, yet.
"Took me maybe 10 minutes to fit on my scooter, locks down quick, make sure you press down and lock it. Missed that step once. Double check the dimensions of what you are going to carry, if it is close to the case size, get the bigger one."

Great trunk for the price,
October 16, 2008
By PennState
|
Pros: Excellent quality for the price
Cons: Maltese Cross
"I recently purchased the large trunk for my Kawasaki Concours. The flat black color matches the saddlebags that originally came with the bike. I painted the orange color black and removed the reflector from the back. I'd like to remove the maltese cross as well but that would leave a round divot in the top of the trunk. I recently saw a similar Give trunk and was amazed at how close they look for a fraction of the price. Definately happy with the price and quality."
