"Prior to ordering the bull bar for my 2006 Tacoma, I read the reviews and focused on the ones that mentioned the need/suggestion to improve the instructions. The one page pictorial representation (no verbiage) that was included with the unit was less than what I desired. I prefer words along with pictures. In order to supplement the instuctions I did the following:
1.) Pulled up Summit's web page,

2.) Searched for the Westin Bull Bar for my Tacoma, and

3.) Printed the online instructions.

Surprisingly, the Westin and the JC Whitney product are installed the same way and use the same parts. The online Westin instuctions include verbiage as well as a picture. Also the Westin picture shows from the front of the bull bar to the front of the truck. The JC Whitney instuctions show the opposite view. Having both sets of instuctions simplifies the installation even further and leaves no doubt.

One thing about the Westin instructions I want to mention. For the Tacoma it states that the tow hooks need to be removed. I removed the passenger side tow hook to begin my installation. I noticed that after installing the bar, the hook did not need to be removed. So I put it back on. The JC Whitney instructions rightfully so made no mention of tow hook removal. So that just goes to show you that the Westin instuctions also had a flaw."

Pros: very tight fit, very durable and heavy duty, very easy install with no hassel at all
Cons: light tabs will not work for some lights

"overall this is an amazing product. it took me only around 20 mins. to install it, however i had already removed my tow hooks in the front. the bull bar is a very good product, it is strong, i used it to pull myself off the creaper i was on and it did not give at all, the install was very straight forward and very simple, the only thing i dont like is that the light tabs are built into the tub part of the bull bar, this makes light install difficult, if you have a 6" or larger light then you will not be able to mount it without some time and dedication, i went with 5 1/2" lights, they are perfect for the application, also be carefull when installing lights that have a short stud to bolt to, this is because you have to get a socket into the tube to tighten the nut, other than that i am very pleased with the bull bar"

"Installed on 2005 Ram3500 4x4 Dually. Good quality product. All parts received in fine condition. Powder coat very good. Instructions could have been clearer. If you have tow hooks this will take a bit longer due to lack of clearance and no warning to remove them. Requires patience but workable. About an hour to install. Illustrations faded. Instructions have to be clarified."

"On the GMC Canyon I had to remove the bottom air dam from the bumper (just snaps on). The bar then fits with no problem and looks sharp. I had to notch out the air dam to slide over the bar which gave it a clean look. Instructions are pretty much useless but easy to figure out how to bolt it together."

"The bull guard arrived with several other items I ordered for my 2006 F-150 XLT. Delivery was timely, as is JCW reputation. The directions are very weak and "figures' diagrams fairly useless. This is one area that JCW needs to get their summer interns to work on! The install took about three hours and involved removing the whole front bumper to access the open end of the front frame rails to insert the attachment assembly. The front facia (plastic piece under the bumper MUST be cut to allow the unit to reach the brackets mounted in the tow hook spot on the frame. I used a dremel to quickly cut the openings BUT it is hard to size and space accurately so start small and work out! The front license will not be visible when installed so that will need to be moved. Nothing complicated about it but the ease of installation and modifications need to be understood and the directions really need to be improved for this product!"

"I have an '05 Dodge RAM 2500 HD 4WD with a Hemi. I needed a bull bar for the front end. I've shopped JC Whitney for my old Jeep, motorcycle - you name it. Once again, this company showed me why I always come back to them . Great product / well made / price could have been a bit lower, maybe 149.99. Either way, I mounted it myself in about 30 minutes with a 16mm wrench and 16mm socket. Not a big job. Clear instructions. Slight scratch on the powder coat, but not a big deal. If you can read and torque, you can do this in less than an hour and 1 beer."

"I was shopping around for a bull bar and saw this one. for the price compared to the other's is great. The quality is the same as the others for over a hundred less. It took me about a half hour to install it by myself, all u do is bolt it up and measure from the bumper to the bar to make it even that's it."

"Toyota Tundra X-cab 2003.
The BULL GUARD arrived in a timely manner and I installed it by myself with little trouble. The S/S guard looks great and added just the right touch to my truck. The instuctions were brief and concise. My only suggestion, is that you include some fine tuning instructions. Example, how to align and center the guard. Also, what should you expect, like how much clearance between the guard and the front end of the truck. What is normal?

SO MY OVERALL RATING IS A VERY GOOD ONE. MY PURCHASE WAS MADE BASED ON AN ASSEMBLY I HAD THAT WAS VERY SIMILAR TO THIS ONE, BUT WAS DISTROYED WHEN A DEER HIT ME. THIS BULL BARS CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN ARE VERY SIMILAR TO THE OTHER THAT I HAD AND THE ALOT MORE COST EFFECTIVE FOR THE APPEARANCE."
