The hardware and hitch designers need to talk.,
January 10, 2009
By SnowBeastfrom Marquette, MI
Pros: Solid, well built, fit nicely Cons: poorly designed hardware
"With two people, the installation was fairly easy considering the hitch weighs between 40 to 50 pounds. The problem was that I had to modify some of the hardware to get it to fit properly. And it wasn't the truck that the hardware didn't fit... it was the hitch (that the hardware came with) that the hardware didn't fit. Mostly it was just a matter of grinding until everything fit, but the they should have fit properly to begin with."

Pros: Kit included everything I needed to install on my truck. No drilling was required and the holes lined up perfectly. Cons: Hitch weighs around 60 pounds. So this is a two person install.
"I installed the hitch in about 45 minutes. I had to drop my spare tire (per the directions) and then it bolted up to existing holes/bolts without an issue. You do need to have a helper. To hold the hitch and align the bolts/screws would have been difficult by myself. No drilling was required. As you would expect a torque wrench is required. I have used the hitch and it works great!"

"I loved the handy little screw springs that came with the front mount hitch!!! They made the installation a snap. I installed a front and rear hitch in a little over an hour on a 1999 K1500 Suburban. Without the screw springs it would have taken me an hour to drop the gas tank and fit the metric bolts into the frame. It would have been nice to have a spot for the electrical connector but with this fit and at this great price, I am not complaining."

"Put this on a 95' GMC Yukon. It looks good, fits great, seems very strong and dependable. Husband installed in under one hour - said everything went on without a problem."
