Took a bit of bending...,
July 6, 2009
By Livefreeordie

Pros: 6 bolts off, 6 bolts on. Very simple
Cons: warped when received and needed bending
"For a 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited. I received this very quickly. Like 2 days.
Went to put it on but would not fit correctly. Did not really fit around gas tank without prying. Was bent in about an inch (half inch in on each side).
I had to take my floor jack and a steel rod and bend it out, measure.. bend it out, measure, bend it out, measure... a couple of times to get it right. Took a while but got it right.
Once that was done. Easy. Took 10 minutes to slap the bolts in and tighten them down."

Outstanding customer service,

Pros: Customer service and support
Cons: Minor, but when it did not fit, I was referred to Curt which happened to be a pleasant experience.
"The hitch did not fit my 98 Explorer, but after speaking with the manufacturer, I believe the problem was with my vehicle frame. What impressed me was JC Whitley stood behind their guarantee and paid to have the hitch returned. I recieved a catalog in the mail from Whitley loaded with great products and I will continue to buy from this great company. Thanks."

Pros: Installed very quickly
Cons: Real tight
"I just put this winch on my sport trac and i thought it was great. It installed easily and quickly. It looks good and it does everything i need it to do. The only thing is that it was a real tight fit and I had to put the brackets on first then the tube."

Pros: Ease of installation,perfect fit
Cons: Had to do it myself, lol
"2002 Dodge Durango 2WD
This hitch was the easiest I've ever put on a vehicle. All the parts are included and fit fine.I took longer getting my tools together and picking up after then I did installing the part.A second person is helpful but not neccessary to do this one.I think a jack stand would have been in the way. This is why I shop J.C.Whitney.They have what you want and need so you can do it and not send it to the shop."

Pros: The Curt Tubular hitch fit exactly as stated
"This hitch worked great, I recommend 2 guys to install it but we did it in about 30 minutes. I had to remove the bumper bolts, 6 of them, and had to take the stock muffler hanger loose. The hitch was a snug fit and slid right into place, the bolts provided were perfect. I did not have to take the bumper off or even undo the wiring harness on it. Once the hitch was installed the muffler hanger bolted right back up where it was. No problem. We did use an impact wrench to remove the old bolts and put the new ones in."

Took over 2 weeks to get. There was no place to mount trailer light/brake adapter without drilling."

Pros: everything fit perfect, no bending or flexing to align.
Cons: none at this time
"The product arrived at my home in 2 days, much earlier than expected. I was amazed at the ease of installation, six pre-drilled hole in the hitch that aligned perfectly with the pre-drilled holes in the frame of my 2000 Ford F150. As advertised the Tubular Hitch is barely visible at the rear of the truck. Very Pleased...."

Pros: exact fit, looks great
Cons: none
"Posted earlier because of delivery problems. FedEx driver spoke very little English but did manage to explain that the U-Haul stickers on the box made him think it belonged to them. U-Haul must have redirected it. The hitch is a pertect fit, great gloss black paint, came in a large box so not a scratch on it. A neighbor helped lift one end so it took less than 10 min. to install. Will torque the bolts in the morning."

"bought this hitch for my 2003 grand cherokee.had to use existing weld nuts.i did this by myself in about 90 minutes.never did get the rear most holes to line up,either have to make holes bigger on hitch or put a couple of tack welds on it.other than that its a great looking hitch and the extras it came with were great.a great bargain.i still haven't found one cheaper, and free shipping, wow.JC whitney will have my buisness for many years to come."

Pros: Fit just right.
Cons: Need lock nuts for bolts or little tube of thread lock
"Receiver came within 5 days in good condititon. Everything needed was in the box. I installed by myself in about one hour and a half. Had to remove 4 bolts on frame to install receiver which took at least 1/2 hour. Need to have locking nuts or tube of thread lock. Which I used plus six extra nuts on bolts for extra security installation. I like the extra 2" slide bar as well, good addition. Am very satiafied with reciver. Regards, Chardee"

curt tube hitch/would do it again,

Pros: Nicely well made tube hitch (picture did not show exact hitch) great finish, fit well, was relatively easy to install
Cons: Hitch installed 3/8 off center to left
"Installed on a 2001 Jeep Wrangler. Hitch receiver installed 3/8" to the left of center, couldn't move more to the right. Don't think this is a problem on this vehicle. Jeep had 18mm bolts to remove, had to use crescent wrench on Jeep. Bolts with hitch were standard 9/16. Fit well, holes matched up, installed in about 1/2 hour once I got the Jeep bolts out. Hitch made well, nice finish, looks great. Had to fish front nut plates and nuts thru frame hole; but took only two or three tries. Was told by JCW it would ship in 5 days; got in two from order.WOW"

Pros: Never itstalled a hitch myself, but this was so easy I can not figure way the dealership wanted $150.00 for installation
Cons: Have no Cons about this purchase
"After getting a price of $777.00 from my dealership for a hitch, 2" receiver and pigtail connector I knew it was time to shop. On one web site I actually saw the same brochure the dealership had given me and there price on line was half what the dealership quoted. Shopping futher J.C. Whitney offered the same design in a Curt hitch for $200.97 and my son and I installed everything in 30 minutes. This was installed on a KIA Sorento, which already had the nuts welded into the SUV's frame. Although we had to drop the spare tire the hitch aligned prefectly. Plugged in the pigtail and I was ready to tow. Thank J.C. Whitney..."

2005 sienna,
February 7, 2009
By theted
from omaha
|
Pros: sturdy. Included ball mount (not ball or pin) which was unexpected.
Cons: slight difficulty to install. Shipping packaging could be better.
"It came in a large cardboard box. The box was heavy duty, but the hitch was not secured inside the box (loose in the box), so it appeared to come through as the box had been taped up several times, probably in transit. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't scratched up as others had said.
The hitch, in my opinion should be widened about 1/2 inch or so. This would have made the install a lot easier and quicker.
Installed the hitch on my 2005 sienna. It took me about 3 hours, mostly because I did it by myself (instructions said 45 minutes). I had a hard time starting the bolts so I sprayed the underside of the car with a hose and then chased the threads with a bolt to clean the threads do to all the accumulated junk. The first bolt went in easy. When I went to do a bolt on the other side, I had a hard time lining up the bolt. I took a wonder bar and plied to spread the hitch. I put a 1/2 inch piece of wood between between the hitch and the car (cargo area) so I could get it lined up. I had to fight to get the other bolts to line up (used a rubber mallet to tap it around. The bolts got very, very snug as I screwed them in. Not sure if this was by design, or because of the pressure on the bolts from the receiver or maybe I should have cleaned the bolt holes some more before mounting. I finally got all 6 bolts in. It took an surprising amount of torque to get the bolts all the way.
I was surprised that it did come with a straight ball mount, which wasn't in the picture It did not come with a pin to hold the ball mount in place though."

Great Product, kind of hard to put on.,

Pros: Fast shipping, great look and feel to it. great instructions
Cons: blocks my hitch light plug, hard to install some of bolts
"I have a 08 4runner. I received this item real fast. Got out and installed it pretty quickly. one big problem was the two bolts above the exhaust pipe are really hard to put in by yourself or even with two people. I ended up stripping the nut welded in the frame on the back right one. Got 7 out of the 8 on but i am only towing bikes around so it wont be too bad. It looks amazing on and the step is nice to reach on top of the vehicle. I would recommend this product, just have some help when installing."

Pros: Free shipping was great. Customer service fantastic.
Cons: First hitch didn't fit.
"The first hitch that came did not fit. This was a manufacturer error. JC Whitney sent out a new one immediately. They emailed all the necessary labels needed to send the original one back. Customer service went into high gear to get things right. The replacement worked fine. It took 20 minutes to install. Looks great."

curt III hitch,
January 29, 2009
By 2009sienna
|
"I can vouch for the perfect fit of the JC whitney ZX287035F hitch on a 2009 Sienna. (This is the Curt 13256 hitch if you go to the Curt site.) It arrived within 4 working days of ordering from JC Whitney. Great deal. There wasnt any padding inside the box, but its a hitch, so a few dings to the paint arent an issue. This appears to be the way Curt ships them, the box had their name on it. Took me and my 12-year old an hour to put it on. You can do it without removing the exhaust pipe if you have a small handed helper and a swivel for your socket wrench. Be sure to run the bolts into the frame to make sure they are cleaned out before you bother lifting the hitch to fasten it in. The Toyota factory caulking guy mucked up 2 of the 6 holes, and it took a small screwdriver to clean them out so the bolts would turn in by hand easily. You dont want to fight it as you are holding up the hitch. Good luck and happy towing!"

Easy to Install!,
January 27, 2009
By MarkBF

Pros: Fast Delivery/ Easy Installation
Cons: None!
"Only took about 30 minutes to install to my new 2008 Silverado. Actually took longer to dress for my cold garage and to assemble and put away the sockets and torque wrench. Load the rear frame bolt to the rear of the truck as you snug it down so the front frame hole aligns with the front hitch hole and stays put. Makes it easier to get the front carriage bolts in."
