Satisfied but sad, February 12, 2009
By SanAntonioPhil from San Antonio, Texas

Pros: Fantastic quality
Cons: Now have a metal to metal noise when going up hill.

"I am impressed with the quality of the of the Receiver unit, I paid my Mechanic $25.00 to install it and he followed the directions to the letter. It installed easily but now I have a noise in the back of my 2009 Nissan Versa when going up hill, sounds like something hitting the receiver unit. My Mechanic stated that it was no cause of his work but to locate the problem and fix it, he said that will cost another $25.00. He said that the muffler or the heat shield must be causing the sounds but he will need to spend unknown time and labor to correct whatever the receiver unit is using too much space with and make adjustments. I am on a fixed income so I must wait until next month to have that corrected, then I will up date the findings."

Fits and installs very easy, January 1, 2009
By Hink from Florida

Pros: Easy install, looks good
Cons: None

"JC Whitneys price was very competitive, but what made the sale was the free shipping on orders over $75. I did not expect it to be shipped so quickly, but it was, I had the hitch here in 5 business days. The hitch fit perfectly, unbolted the hooks in the frame, cut out the plastic cover and bolted the hitch back in, took no time at all."

Fits Like a Glove, November 13, 2008
By cass2421 from St. Cloud, MN

Pros: Installed in less than an hour, fit perfectly.
Cons: None

"I purchased the model to fit my 2001 Ford Focus and ordered it on a Tuesday and it showed up on Thursday afternoon, that's quick shipping. It installed in about 45 minutes all we had to do was angle it around the tail pipe and bolt it on. All the parts and special tools needed came with the hitch. I was definitely impressed with how easy it was to install. Looks good on the car to, it doesn't stick out all over like some of the universal kits will."

Hitch for Vanagon Westfalia, November 6, 2008
By Chocolatewagon from La Conner, WA

Pros: Great paint job on main hitch, easy to install.
Cons: Some parts raw metal. These should have been painted.

"This hitch is a perfect fit on my 1980 VW Vanagon Westfalia. It was easy to install once I painted the two stamped metal parts that were just raw metal and bound to rust. The parts are plenty thick and wouldn't have rusted through in my lifetime, but would have looked poor in a couple of weeks. Installation is just a matter of tightening two bolts--very easy! Also, well made in USA."

Good product for $$$, October 9, 2008

Ease of Use/Installation: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Quality/Construction: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Pros: Good product and great service

"I got this installed on 2007 Saab sedan and I'm very pleased with it.
I had it installed professionally, so it's difficult to for me rate it on the installation, but looking underneath the car it appears to be very solid.
The only other alternative to the hitch was the roof rack and at the end I'm very happy with the decision and would recommend it to anyone.
I'll be happy to comeback in a few months and review this product again, after getting more "millage" out of it.
so far I'm very pleased with the product and the JC Whitney' service.

Pros: Easy installation
Cons: None that I have encountered.

"I bought this product for a 1993 Acura Integra and I was able to install it without drilling any holes or fishing nuts through the frame. The frame had pre-existing holes with the nuts already attached. Easiest trailer hitch installation I've ever done."

Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Harder to insall then illustrated..holes hard to enlarge

"The instructions stated that the installation would take approx. 30 minutes....but it doesn't tell you that trying to enlarge the holes in the frame to accept the 1x3 washers is alot more difficult the it appears. The truck has exsisting attachment points and they should have been used instead of altering the frame rails..."

Quality/Construction: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Pros: perfect fit
Cons: slightly difficult to manuever nuts onto bolts

"Purchased this hitch to tow a mini-trailer for autocross and to mount bike rack. Perfect fit between frame rails. Clever system for threading nuts onto bolts on inside of frame rail. Somewhat difficult but doable for someone w/ average mechanical skills. Nice quality - dead-on fit. Small receiver barely clears rear bumper, very neat install. JCW had best price by far for identical item plus free shipping and 20% coupon."

Ease of Use/Installation: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5
Features: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5
Quality/Construction: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Pros: I have a 1993 Ford Escort Wagon. The hitch fit like the instructions said.
Cons: Had to cut slot for the hitch in some sheet metal that came down a side of the frame on both sides.

"The hitch is hard to see with the ball mount removed. I won't be hitting my shins on the hitch with the ball mount removed.
There was a metal guard between the gas tank and the bumper that I had to cut a slot in for the hitch to go up all the way. I sawed it with an air body saw. It could have been cut with a tinsnips. Other than that there was no problem.
Trailer pulled good.

Pros: It looks good and does exactly what it is designed to do. Install is simple even for someone like me.
Cons: It is not the hitch in the pic,it is a fixed hitch.

"This product is a good product and i have no gripe about it,but the picture they have displayed is not the hitch i recieved, but it is the one in the descriptoin. It is a fixed tounge hitch which is actually fine for my 88 tempo.Simple to install with a drill bit,a socket, and a wrench. My wife left and went to the store, one hour later when she got home and held the four bolts in the trunk and i got under and tightened them to finish. If you are just looking for something to pull your four wheeler like me,this will work well for you."

Quality/Construction: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Pros: It was one of the most easyest hitch I ever installed
Cons: you need help to hold hitch in place while marking holes

"The hitch was easy to install, the problem came in when taking of the muffler braket, and where the hitch mounts on the other side of the car, there was a steel plate welded on the frame. I had to cut off the plate which took a lot of time after that was done and muffler down , it took about 45min to drill the holes, install the hitch, put the muffler back. I would highy recommend this product."

Pros: Quality of Construction; finish
Cons: Install instructions a little weak

"Excellent product of high quality. Very pleased with the unit, which arrived ahead of schedule. (Pleasant surprise!)Instructions could be improved on how best to modify the under body cowling that must be removed & cut out for the unit to fit. A template would have been helpful. Not a serious problem, but would have been a "nice to have" for a "do it yourselfer" like me. Overall install is easy. Very pleased"
