Pros: easy to install, works better than thought it would
Cons: you have to unbolt it to remove tailagate

"install on my 05 GMC sierra was quick and easy, no problems with the cable getting caught on my truck, the only problem i see is that to remove the tailgate, you have to unbolt the cylinder before you can remove the gate. wasnt sure how well it was going to SLOW the tailgate when let go from the just open position, but it lowered it slowly to the full open position, the other problem is forgetting and dropping other peoples tailgates when you open theirs!"

Pros: Easy install, no drilling required, works without failure
Cons: The tailgate cable keeps getting caught

"Required hardware was included, along with step-by-step instructions, and the install took 15 mins. However, I noticed that when the tailgate is closed, the cable gets pinched between the tailgate and the damper. So I need to pull the cable to the outside each time I close the gate. If the damper has a similar stress load, you might get away without the cable."

Cons: Cable has to be tucked in everytime tailgate is closed.

"First of all I thought there would be 2 of them at that price. Almost returned it when just 1 arrived. Thought I'd see how well it works and then make a decision. Installation was easy. Especially after reviewing the installation video on the manufactures website. Pleased with its operation and will keep it. The only problem I've had (installed on an '04 Ram 1500)is the cable pops outside the tailgate when you close it. Cable has to be tucked in with your fingers everytime you close the tailgate."

Pros: Very high quality, looks like it's OEM

"I put this on my 2005 Dodge RAM SRT-10 Quad Cab as I accidentally let my tailgate fall before I realized I was too close to the brick wall in my garage. The damper would have saved me as it lowers the tailgate slowly meaning that it's not only easier on you since those things can be really heavy, and it is fairly slow so you have extra time to notice you are about to do something stupid like I did. It's easy to install and includes all the required tools, including a couple of really big Torx tools that I didn't have in my collection and which aren't real easy to find."

"- GMC, Seirra, 2001
- Once I recieved my EZ Down it only took me about 10 min to install it on my vehicle. The product works very well reducing haveing to hold the tailgate during the lowering process. The wife and I truly enjoy having this upgrade to our vehicle."
